Are you still considered a first generation college student if your parents didn't attend college, but an older sibling went to college and received a degree (10 years ahead of me in age)?

I'm not sure if first generation status is affected by older siblings. Thanks!

Your sibling is in your generation therefore you are both first.

I would think that you and your sibling are of the same generation, even if there is a ten year age gap, so yes, you would be first generation. Good luck!

I think you're confusing the term first college graduate with first generation college student.
