I'm in LA.

Just ate my first in n out burger.

Yep. Thats a damn good fast burger. Four and three quarters stars.

I no longer feel like a fraud on here.

Carry on.

I love In-N-Out's.

How do you think it compares to other fast food burgers like Five Guys?

There is something special about ordering a double animal style via drive through that you can't get via five guys.

I did secret menu for my burger (I was with locals) and got the fried onions and other fixins, but I am a french fry purist and want only spuds and sauces, period.

After I finished the last bite of my burger, I immediately wanted another one. I did not order another because I wanted to go back to the place and chill (we spent all day doing touristy LA stuff).

What a blast, though. I was with another EM attending. IN-N-OUT burgER jokes were aplenty.

I've heard from friends who have tried all three:

As far as taste goes: In-N-Out > Five Guys > Whataburger

(There's probably a lot of regional bias. I'm West coast so maybe that explains my friends' order. I assume other people's friends living in other places will have a different order!)

(Disclaimer: I've never had an In N Out burger. No need to. Shake Crack)

In and out was an experience. In and out >>>>> shake shack > five guys

Not even from the west coast

Lemme fix that for you.

Shake shack >> In n Out >>>>>>> five guys

Had a crappy day? Get a smokeshack burger with a shackmeister ale and some cheese fries. Problem solved.

I had In-N-Out for the first time last summer. I am so excited that I will be staying less than a mile away from one on my upcoming (and final) away rotation. I won't ever have to worry about, "what's for dinner?"

I wonder if you'll get tired of it. My guess is that you'll become addicted and go into withdrawal when you go back home

Having lived on both coasts:
In and out> shake shack (redic overpriced and small portions)>>>>>>>>5 guys.

The only semi acceptable thing from shake shack is the smoke stack burger. I didn't realize until I hit the east coast that every place charges for refill on fountain drinks (in NYC). What the heck?

Those refills cost them maybe 2 cents for the powder and the water

In N Out>>>>>>>>>>Red Robin Whiskey Burger>Everything else.
