First interview EVER!!

After telling my parents, I couldn't think of anything else to do but post that on my 3rd application cycle, I FINALLY got an interview at a dental school. NYU emailed me earlier today.

Funny thing is, I was just about to finish drafting a letter to Eugenia Mejia talking about how much I want to go to NYU when I got the email...Guess I'll get to talk about it with them in person now.

My stats are in predents.com, so for all of you sub-3.0ers, don't lose hope. If a schlub like me could get an interview, so can you.

I was surprised to open my inbox to have an interview invitation from NYU. It's my second invitation in two days. I called earlier today to check on the status of my application and they were waiting for my fee that I sent Aug. 17. This is my second time applying, the first time I applied I was only invited to one interview. A bit of advice to other predents, apply early, call the schools, and keep the fire burning. Please do not lose hope.

For all of you that have sent in your check and photo to NYU, did they ask for it by email? Or did you just send it on your own? I have the check and photo signed, but don't know if I should wait till they contact me, or should I just mail it? I remember someone saying something about Boston and if you send the money b4 they ask you, they could lose it???

For NYU, I just sent it after I checked the website and it said they require the App fee and photo when you submit to AADSAS. If you have any questions, just call them. I've come to find that NYU's admissions office is among the most helpful and open during the application process. They're almost always willing to talk to you or answer your questions.

BTW, does anyone know the correlation of getting an early interview invite at NYU and acceptance rate? I know with UOP, if you get an early interview, that pretty much means you're accepted. Any info on nyu?

Penny, what do you do when you call the schools? I have heard of people doing that, but I don't know what to call about, although I want them to get to know me and know I'm interested. Also, who do you talk to? The receptionists or do you ask specifically for an admissions person? Do you tell them who you are when you call? Thanks! 🙂

I spoke to the receptionist and they either told me my status, asked me to send an email, or wait for an email. Two of the schools I called this week sent me an interview invitation the same day. I have not been able talk to any admissions person but I think if you do, it would be a plus. Good luck.
