Hey everyone, long-time lurker, first time poster here. I am trying to compile resources (preferably free since I am on my own) that will help me be prepared for interviews. I just got my first invite and will be interviewing in a little over a month, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Why medicine/osteopathic medicine?
How would you decrease the cost of healthcare?
How would you improve healthcare?
Tell us about a time you failed at something and how you overcame it. What did you learn from it?
What can you bring to the entering class?

The list goes on and on but those were some of the questions I got asked at a lot of my interviews.

SDN has an entire section on Interview feedback

SDN has an entire section on Interview feedback

I've been trying to find a mass thread for it using the search function, but all I'm finding is tiny posts with few replies

Have a role model?
Read anything interesting recently?
If you were a disease what would you be?

A pretty ubiquitous question for me was to discuss a present challenge in healthcare and potential solution. You'll definitely want some idea of the history and philosophy behind osteopathy. Other than that, general stuff like how you manage stress, how you're gonna adapt to the challenge of being a med student, why medicine etc etc. Good luck! Getting a II this early bodes pretty well. Knock the interview out of the park.

A few questions I think you should be prepared for:

1) This school receives x applicants every year, interviews y (congratulations), and accepts z. Why should you be in the accept group?
2) What makes you unique? (What will you bring to our class?)
3) Why *here*?
4) In medical school, you’re going to fail. Not B+ fail, but fall-on-your-face fail. How have you dealt with failure in the past?

This is in addition to the obvious “Tell me about yourself”, “why medicine” and “osteopathic yay” questions you’re likely to encounter.

As Goro pointed out, there are also exhaustive lists on interviews that are school-specific on this site.

Considering the cost of applying, buying a used med school interview book on Amazon is nothing. Flying in blind tanked me on my first interview.

Sit down with a friend parent etc. Have them ask a few questions. Have them give feedback not only on content but in how you react to questions, etc
