First possible C coming up....

I know how you feel. Well back in my Freshmen year in college I was not as prepared compared to other kids in my honors college at MSU for chemistry. I got a 2.5 in both, but since then have gotten at least a 3.0 in all classes, except for a 2.5 in MicroBio.

Now I am taking BioChem and Physio classes, both of which are considered two of five most challenging Undergrad classes at MSU. Both classes are based on a class rank. In a 300 kid class, automatically 25% of the students get a 1.5 or worst. Yeah, and of the 300 students at least 180 are pre-professional students and at least 100 of these students enter the class as some of the smartest kids in their grade at Michigan State.

Due to these classes I am very stressed out b/c even getting a 2.0 in these classes are considered normal, since only 60% of the students in these classes can get a 2.5 or above

Thats how it is at many large state schools.
Not uncommon for this curve
10% = A
20% = B
40% = C
20% = D
10% = F

I see the curve as a good thing. As a patient... would you really want someone cutting on you that didnt give it their all?

Edit: TO the OP a C in a writing/english course will not hurt you. Just do well in science.

Okay, I have a B- mid-term for composition one, and my papers keep coming back with C's. So I'm wondering should I go ahead and withdraw/pass for the class?

What! No. You're trying to get into pod school, 1 C isn't going to hurt you at all.

My two cent is that (i do not mean to stir any arguments), even for M.D/D.O programs... one C is totally fine, as long as your other courses compensate for it AND that the course is not a prerequisite/science. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Thnx guys, I Have A's in the other classes, pluswith next semester, my G.P.A will go up anyway.

Considering there are many with only a 3 GPA or less, you can get on with Cs. I had a number of Cs and have 8 interview offers.

Dude, I FAILED a science class my first semester and still got accepted at four schools and maximum merit scholarship at one. Don't sweat it, just focus on doing better in the future 🙂

No, I wouldn't drop. If the final grade's a C, then it's a C. Depending on your current GPA, it probably won't take a drastic hit w/ this C. Otherwise, keep moving along and try to get as many A's in your future classes.
