Hey guys,

I just got my first rejection from midwestern IL today and am sort of bummed that i got kicked out so early in the game. i have low stats but still expected a little more. i'm retaking my DAT in a month, i have a 3.3/3.1 and 18 AA/18 TS, applied 5th batch. i have lots of shadowing and plenty of extracurriculars, should i just push my DAT way back and plan for next cycle?

Sorry to hear that.. I'm a 12th batcher (with missing committee letter) and am quite worried and paranoid about it being late and all but at the same time, I still think its still early to give it up. Idk how many schools you are applying to but It's just one school and there's plenty more still, no? If I were you I think I'd just focus on studying and doing well/better on the DAT so it gives you a bit of a boost. Make sure you let the schools know that you are retaking the DAT in a month so they don't reject/ not offer you an interview solely bc of your DAT/ stat.

Don't give up yet! I'm an 18 DAT person as well and I've gotten 3 interviews so far!

I also got my rejection letter from midwestern IL this morning.. 🙁 definitely feeling your pain

I'm still a bit confused though, i received three interviews from OOS schools thus far but got instantly rejected from an in-state school.

Don't worry, I got rejected from 5 schools already. Just Keep your head up! There's plenty more schools to wait for.

so would you guys suggest calling or emailing each school and telling them i'm retaking? my date is october 15th for now, i had a 16 Bio 19 ochem 21 gchem so i'm going crazy with bio haha.

ah yeah it's nice knowing i'm not alone! i applied to mosdoh, asdoh, SIU, BU, Roseman, and UIC. i'm in state too and definitely thought MWU was my best shot...so i can only imagine being rejected 7 times! 😱

we have prettty similar gpa and your DAT is much higher so im sure you will be fine!

Definitely make it a point to email, call, or fax the schools regarding your retake...make sure you get through to them no matter what. I had a friend that took his DAT as late as December last cycle, but he got 22's across the board and got into school post december, he's now a D1. Everyones applications comes with a different set of circumstances so no one can really tell you what to do. You are already invested in this application cycle so you might as well give it your best shot...go wherever you can get in

your dat makes up for it, dont worry! i just need to not get another rejection for 30 days, provided that my DAT score doesn't go down....man this is depressing. back to the library i go.

Not the end of the world, dear. Keep your hopes up. Dental school apps can be very strange. I got rejected from Midwestern IL as well, but somehow got an interview at an OOS public school with a great reputation. I was quite surprised myself. Midwestern IL is a new school and all. Anything goes. Please don't be discouraged!
