Fischer Projection Exception?

When you have a Carbonyl or carboxylic acid attached as one consituent on a Fischer projection, does that take priority over a C-C bond? I thought it did but it seems like its not the case.

What do you guys think?

It should take priority unless something else is going on. Can you show a diagram?
