I really want to use this source to review for this years ABSITE, though I've read reviews that there are errors in the text. The only thing more painful than reading/memorizing a review book is reading/memorizing one with errors.
For those of you using this source, perhaps we could all help each other and post the errors we catch in this thread? :xf:

Most of us won't be reading that book for another 3 months, so this thread might be a little premature.

As far as the little mistakes go, I think that Fiser has less than most study resources. Also, most of the mistakes are really just outdated recommendations. Since expert opinions vary, and the ABSITE tends to lag a few years behind the literature, I'm not sure if such corrections would be much help.

That being said, I'll keep this thread in mind for the future.

Already found a few:

p. 19 it says that Carbapenems do not cover pseudomonas (not true)
p. 61 recommends pericardial window for all penetrating injuries to the "box" (should use ultrasound)
p. 61 I'm prtty sure the pelvic fracture figure is just plain wrong (or at least backwards)
p. 62 It recommends exploring a pelvic hematoma in case of penetrating injury (should probably back it and send to IR)
p. 213 Length of small bowel is wrong

Perhaps I should just find another resource 👎 (even though I like the way this one is organized for last minute cramming).

Ertapenem is useless on Pseudomonas. All others work just fine

As SlUser notes, ALL review books (and I think I have owned or read them all) will have mistakes. They are usually changes in management over time or areas where there is some controversy.

In terms of pelvic fx, remember in the old days, IR didn't exist.

And guess what? On your boards, they won't exist either or they won't come in, so you do need to know what the surgical management is without the consultants (even if you wouldn't do that in real life).

All in all, Fiser is probably the best resource out there, but yes, it does have mistakes.
