Could someone please sticky this thread? Seriously, the wealth of information is unparalleled. I'm actually having trouble breathing.

1. Open your airway.
2. Relax your abdominal muscles to facilitate the expansion of your lungs.
3. Inhale.
4. Enjoy the sweet, sweet taste of oxygen.
5. Exhale.
6. Repeat.

I've got non-kosher beef with number 2.... relaxing is passive... causing exhalation.

To inhale you need to contract the muscles to move the diaphragm down to increase the negative pressure in the lung. Thus, forcing air into the lung.

Isn't physiology such a beautiful thing? 😍

A gunner is born.

haha. Is there a word for someone who just wants to work/compete as little as possible in med school without failing out? If not, I think we should coin a term right now.

Edit: would be cool if it were semi-eponymous. Like maybe "sunner." ahahaha

I'm going to start using that term whenever possible and if it doesn't catch on, I will force it to.
