i know california requires a family practice elective.
texas requires a neurology elective, plus no electives done in the lone star state.

does anyone know if there specific clinical rotations that must be done during medical school to be eligible for state license in Florida and Arizona? is anyone familiar with the requirements for these 2 specific states? if so, please reply. thanks.

Go to www.fsmb.org and click on the state medical board link. Scroll down to each state, and there will be a hyperlink for the state medical board's website. I haven't looked at AZ or FL specifically, but the laws in other states were clearly written and understandable. You should find what you need there.

We had a discussion of this a few months back. I believe that the regs for California require that FP topics be in the med school curriculum not that you have a dedicated rotation. I think I posted the reference -- search for that thread.

I just finished the licensure process in AZ and there were no specific FP rotation requirements...it went very smooth.

azstork, thanks for the reply. since you have just completed the process, are there any unqiue requirements for a AZ license? for example, is there a limit on how many weeks of clinical rotations you can do at places unaffiliated with your school's hospitals? (i.e. visiting electives)

i have checked out www.fsmb.org and clicked on the FL or AZ state boards, and they dont make any reference to any of the specific medical school curriculum requirements that i am looking for. maybe i am not looking in the right section.

Try this: http://www.azmdboard.org/Regulatory/Title32/

And

http://ww2.doh.state.fl.us/LASNET/Boards.aspx - select "Board of Medicine"

and, http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/medical/me_statutes.html

Both of these links were navigated to by starting at the FSMB site.
