Sorry if this is a bizarre question. I've noticed some on here are aviation aficionados and was wondering if anyone has known someone/personally done any pre-hospital type flight medicine?

I will hopefully be joining your ranks after this match cycle, I have been a 9-1-1/Critical Care Paramedic for close to 10 years now and flight has always been something I have been really interested in doing.

Any opportunities like this exist for anesthesia residents/attendings?

Being a paramedic, you have probably already heard of CCAT teams. However, this sounds like exactly what you are talking about...

Yeah familiar with those, thanks for the response. I was actually thinking more along the lines of civilian EMS services. Example, I know some EM residencies will fly their residents on a voluntary basis (if they do not want to fly they don't have to) has anyone heard of an anesthesia resident doing something similar?

Oschner in New Orleans....anesthesia residents are part of the flight team, or at least they were when I was a resident.

I'm an EMS pilot in the NW. We occasionally have residents and fellows ride along on flights, although it not the norm.

A friend of mine did a anesthesia trauma fellowship in Baltimore and had the option to use some elective time to fly.

We had a "trauma" anesthesiologist from Ohio come and lecture us at grand rounds. He was trained as a cardiac anesthesiologist and said that he frequently flew with the medicvac team.

Happen to remember his name? I'm in Ohio.
