Flight question

I did not. I actually wore my suite on the flight to my interview. I took my suite coat off on the plane so it didn't get wrinkled and laid it on my lap. On the way home I had my suite in a suite bag and carried it on. Wasn't as worried about it getting wrinkled on the way home. 👍

Use a garment/suit bag (not to be confused with luggage). Just a covering that goes over your suit when hanging in the closet. You can carry this in your hand and doesn't count as a carry-on. All planes have hooks where you can hang it during the flight (on the psudo-wall divider behind first/business class as well as in special compartments near the front of the plane. Just ask the flight attendant when entering the plane. Worst case scenario, you fold the suit bag in half and lay it gently on top of the luggage in the overhead rack so it doesn't get scrunched. I've done this and got zero wrinkles in my suit.

Do you guys check your baggage (your suit's in there) when you fly for interviews? I just thought of this...

Absolutely not. It would suck if your check-in luggage doesn't make a tight flight connection or gets lost.

Fold it in your carry-on or carry it in a garment bag (this will count as a carry-on or personal item, so keep that in mind if you have a roller AND a backpack/purse/laptop case/brief case)

Either use a garment bag for carry-on or wear your suit on the flight. If your checked baggage was lost with a suit in it (chances are so low, but why risk it?), that would suck really bad!

Why even bother with checked baggage? Travel light. Bring a suitbag and a small travel/duffel bag. Carry 'em both on and avoid the wait at the belt. Some short flights even charge you for checked baggage.

Was forced to check my luggage before boarding the plane because "they were full"

I got so scared that it would get lost, especially since it was never officially checked in (thought about doing a carry-on).

So yes, like everyone said, carry on is the way to go.

Garment bag is not even necessary, save that $150 (at Men's Wearhouse)
I just folded the pants like normal, and if you have a mid-sized suit case one fold should be enough. As for the jacket, just roll it up. Not a single fold when I got there (from NY to CA) Then, of course, you hang it up as soon as you get to the hotel. If it is wrinkled, just hang it in the bathroom while you shower. Done 👍

Choose a seat towards the back of the plane because they start boarding the plane from the back. This way you are more likely to find empty overhead space and not forced to part from your precious cargo.

Actually chose the front seats for the exact opposite reason. I needed to get out first, even if it means boarding last. My flights were pretty tight, and didn't want to wait for those slowpokes to take 5 minutes to find their luggage.

It doesn't matter where you sit on the plane in terms of obtaining empty overhead space. You just need to be one of the first ones to board when they call your group number/letter so you'll have first dibs in that section.

What sucks is that these greedy airlines charging for checked baggage (except Southwest), the overhead space has become full on nearly every flight these days, not to mention people using larger carry-ons too.
