I am really excited about USF's second look weekend too.... I think it will be really helpful.

Is anyone else is the same really confused position as me? I can honestly say I don't have a first choice school. I have been extremely lucky to have more than one acceptance in FL and I think picking a school will be one of the most difficult decisions I've had to make in a while. I think my first choice school changes pretty much every week. How are you guys going about making this decision?

It is pretty safe to say a lot of people are that way when they have choices. A few years back one of my friends was the same way. But most of the other friends of mine who have had multiple acceptances have had a decent idea almost as soon as they got their acceptances. Those who had a clear idea were more often then not people who had significant others whose careers depended on being in a particular location. For instance one guy I know chose Miami because his wife's plans at the time was to do a particular grad program which had better programs in other areas of the state where he'd been accepted. In other cases, friends were applying as couples to med school or one to med school and the other to dental or pharmacy school so it was contingent on gaining acceptances in the same school.

My best advice is to think about which school will be a better fit for you in terms of curricula, location, and financially.

In response to 1_Accept_Away (for some reason it won't let me quote you):

I called Miami last week to check the status of my application (pre-interview still) and they said they are still reviewing applications and inviting people to interview through the end of March - which means that interviews will probably go into April sometime. I didn't hear anything about whether or not their class was full yet, but I did hear they get pretty good movement on their waitlist in this thread I think.

According to my schedule of interviews when I got the email, the last email date is at the end of March.

Hey Gator I know how you feel. I am really confused about which school to pick as well. It seems as if all the Fl schools have positive aspects, and when financial aid packages come into play the picture becomes even more hazy. It's going to be a tough decision for those without an outright first choice.

Do you mean the last day they invite ("email date") is at the end of March, or are you saying the last interview date is at the end of March. Last week they told me that they invite for interviews through the end of March, so unless they call me at 12:00am on the 31st and tell me to be there that afternoon then I imagine there interview dates must spill over into April... Maybe they added dates??

I think they mean last invite date because the last actual interview date for Miami is generally some time in April.

If last interview is in April the last invites probably would be given up til the end of March.

hi fellow floridians!
does anyone know when fsu interviews til??
thanks for your help...🙂 and :luck: :luck: :luck: !

thanks for the clarification. That sounds about right. I hope I get an interview there yet 🙂

A friend called there recently and said they may interview up until April sometime.

BUMP!

...and just wondering if anyone has heard anything lately?

Greg, When did you get your interview invite? Usually when Miami gives out interviews they only give a range of dates within next month or so period. So for example, those who received interview invites in October were offered interviews through the beginning of December, let's say. So it could be that March 31st is the last interview day for the entire season or the last day they were scheduling at the time you were invited. In any event, congrats!

WilliamsF1 - When was your application complete at Miami? Did you apply to both campuses?

Yeah, both campuses (campi?). My secondary was completed and paid for on 11/2. I had to call to make sure it was complete so it wasn't until about 11/7 that Dr. Hinkley realized they already had my LORs electronically. It was around that time it went into review.

Did they review your app more than once? I was complete on 1/8 and according to their admissions committee they started reviewing it on 1/16. They are apparently "further reviewing" my app, so I don't know if that means they are going slow or if I'm geting into a successively smaller/competitive pool of applicants (hopefully the latter). I think I'm going to write a pre-interview LOI in the mid/end of this week if I haven't received any sort of correspondance.

Dr. Hinkley said my application was going to be reviewed after I e-mailed them in early November when he realized they already had my LORs. I emailed him about 3 months later (early Feb) saying I was still interested in UMiami and asked for the status of my app. Dr. Hinkley said that my app was "currently under review by the Committee." Those were the only times I communicated with them.

Bump everyone!! I am so tired from the time change...anyone else feeling it?

Same here. I emailed UM a few weeks ago and received this reply...

Your file is complete and is still with the admissions committee.

Less than 24 hours until FSU decision :scared:
... CubanDoc crosses fingers and hopes for phone call...

I got my invite in mid January and interviewed Feb 5. Probably it is a range of dates they provided me if they are continuing to interview through April.

Now another question, who is in charge of the waiting list, once again especially for UMiami? Is it the Dean or somebody else?

bump....
Still waiting.....
Hopefully a phone call.

Good luck!!

Hey whatever happened with Pipedreams??? Did you have those interviews yet?

Still no email
I guess no news is kind of like good news.

For Miami?! They are totally behind. I know a guy who interviewed AT LEAST 5 weeks ago and still hasn't heard a thing.

I'm wating for FSU decision today.
what I meant is that no email might mean good news.

but still no phone call either.

.... CubanDoc goes to check the cell phone to make sure it is on ( for the 20th time) :scared: ...

Good Luck! I know the waiting is tough...

To make it even worse they sent me an email....
my assumption was..... HOLD or Rejection.
🙁
But no, after I opened I discovered that it was an apology because they couldn't make a decision today. Now I have to wait another day. They will tell me tomorrow.

Aw, sorry you couldn't hear the news today. I can't image what it would be to get so psyched up for hearing something, then getting a "wait just a little longer." Hopefully that just means you'll get the phone call tomorrow!:luck:
Also, in the context of things, two weeks plus one extra day of waiting is nothing compared to the crazy waiting some schools make people go through.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you tomorrow!

Has anyone placed on hold post interview at UF or FSU been accepted or rejected yet?

Good luck CubanDoc! :luck: Check you email too...the dreaded hold email (which I received) will arrive there if they don't call you.

Good luck!!

Thank you very much

Hey guys, I interviewed at UM Miami yesterday, and UM@FAU today. I defintiely fell in love with UM Miami. I still have my interview at USF on Monday, but right now I am infatuated with the whole UM/Jackson atmosphere.

LOL...I could tell that from the glowing look on your face when I bumped into you on the tour!! I had a feeling you might fall in love with it. I hope that we end up as classmates.

Did they say until when they are interviewing? Are you interviewing for waitlists spots? How about FAU? Good luck.:luck:

So how many people are still waiting to see if you have an interview at either UM or FSU.....it's down to the last 2 weeks. What does it mean to not be rejected yet? The suspense is killing me. I'm writing my pre-interview letter of interest for UM. Any suggestions on how to sound more convinicing?

I'm still waiting for an interview from UM, but I've resigned myself to the fact that I won't be interviewing there. I just hope that USF takes me off the wait list soon so I'll know that I'm going to become a doctor.

No don't think like that....we all have to keep our hopes up

I am a lot like you. I've given up on every school that I still haven't heard from 🙂. I don't think it's pessimistic, because even though a select few will be invited for interviews in the next 2 weeks at certain schools, the majority who haven't interviewed there will not. I think this is just being realistic. If I didn't have an acceptance or interview at this point, I would already be planning what to do for next year to make my application better.

Here I am waiting again for FSU after they sent me that email yesterday.

DrZeke, I'm like you, if UM or USF send me an invitation for interview, I will be really happy but I'm not holding my breath for them.

CubanDoc- I just left FSU on a post acceptance unoffical visit

I hope everything works out for you there. I absolutely loved it. I am on the waitlist at USF( high tier= great chance of acceptance) and UF, but I'm not gonna wait around for those two because I have already fallen in love with FSU. If u really want to go to FSU and its right for you everything will work out. Again good luck!!

I think I'm going to write one too - I know I talked about it a while ago, but since theres only two weeks left to hear from them I might as well hurry up. Are you going to snail mail or e-mail it to them?
