Hi everyone I've applied to all the Florida schools.....does anyone know when they start extending interviews and interviewing in general?

I think most schools in FL start interviewing around October through March. I finally got my USF secondary submitted despite days of being unable to access their online section. I'm wondering who's running the admissions dept. now that REL has left. I heard from gujuDOC that he went to UCF or something.

They start at the end of Sept actually. USF has extended their interviews to some time in April as its ending date. I think Miami also has a date sometime toward the end of March or early April when they stop interviewing. Not sure what it is for UF and FSU though.

Check your PMs but essentially I'm doing a masters first and then applying. I spent this last spring semester applying to a few masters programs and got in a masters in molecular medicine at USF COM.

I'm going to start in the fall.

Your name sounds familiar but I can't place you. Were you an applicant from this year??

BTW since we were on the subject of Miami earlier, I should mention that the friend of mine who was taken off the waitlist earlier this year was also taken off the waitlist for UF back in June or something like that.

She is going to UF in the fall. I'm so excited for her.

Well here's to Zeke and all of you that got in to the program of your choice. Some new apps are beginning to bleed over into this thread. Probably about time for someone (why not you Guju?) to start a new thread for the new applicants for this year.

I've spent about a month now preparing at UCF. Gonna be an awesome, outta-da-chute, start-up. I'm itching to get going on recruiting but cant budge until LCME provisional accreditation which will hopefully come in Feb. Keep me in mind if you have need for "generic" non-recruit info. I wish you each well.

I'm currently a resident of SC and FL, due to active duty military.

I had a 3.23 GPA with a 3.6 last 2 years. Strong military leadership experience and some volunteering.

Got 8 ps, 9 vr, 9 bs 26M on MCAT. Planning to retake to try to get a 30 on September 7.

I may try to throw my app in for Early Decision at MUSC, which is a less competitive school. That's my first choice, but I'm also planning on applying all over Florida and the southeast (especially USF and FSU).

Will they even look at my app during ED if they know I'm retaking the MCAT?

If I don't apply ED to MUSC, is there any benefit to applying to other schools now, before I get my retake scores back?

Is the September test too late for this cycle anyways? All other test dates are completely full in Florida.

Any help is appreciated!

Wow good to hear from you. I'm going to do the MM MSMS at USF COM in this year and might apply to UCF next year when I finally apply for med school. So i will definitely keep that in mind. We'll see what the future brings.

EDP means you can apply to ONLY ONE SCHOOL AND ONLY ONE SCHOOL! No other school in the nation can look at your app until you've been rejected by EDP program that you are applying to.

LOL No that is not too personal. I have done it to boost my application just like you. It is a Medical Sciences Masters in Science. The concentration is Molecular Medicine hence the MM. 🙂

It is a one year program but not the IMS program, though it will have a lot of hardcore science classes and will all be at the med school. 🙂

If you want to apply out, it is better to get your stuff in early. You are going to have to pull up your MCAT score for USF though for FSU you might hold a chance. However, even FSU expects a higher GPA if you have a lower MCAT or a higher MCAT if you have a lower GPA. Talk with adcom people at MUSC and see how likely you are to get in if you do EDP or if it is more advisable to apply broadly from the get go.

BTW, LOL at the way you worded the bolded portion. You always sound so formal normally that the way you worded that made me chuckle. 😛

But I do agree that UCF will go far. I see far more of a future of UCF building up quickly then FSU or LECOM-B because of its great location and affiliation with already established teaching hospitals. I've heard about a lot of the different Otown facilities because a friend of mine that you know lived in the area. If you wish to know who I'm referring to PM me. .

There is a new thread for the Fl. app season. Chudog15 I believe received an interview for UF med in late September. EDP interview invites at USF have also been issued.
