I don't know why, but this gives me an uncontrollable urge to shout that your mom wears army boots!

Since we are talking about dream cars 🙂 .... my dream car since I was 10 has been a Corvette. Then after test driving the 2005 Corvette, I feel in love all over again. 😛 How can you not love a car with 400 hp, goes 0-60 in 4.2 sec, and has a top speed of 186 mph? 😉 I know what you are going to say, if you are going to get a new Vette why not get the 2006 Z06? For me, all those extra vents break up the classic lines on the Vette and I just don't find the Z06 as aesthetically pleasing. Man you can tell I'm a girl!

I never knew you were a girl until today. Ok I think I'm getting in the bad habit of everyone on SDN, of thinking most posters are guys for some reason.

I thought you, Mrburns, and unfrozen were all guys not gals when I first started talking to you all. Of course in the case of the other two people, it was because of indications in their names of Mr. and man which misled poor me. :meanie: :meanie:

On the subject of trucks .... My brother drives a truck which requires a running start to get in. As a result, I never ride in it. 🙂 Everyone is always telling me how cool my bro's truck is. I just don't see it....Oh well.

My Mom drives an Excursion and when it first came out it was funny to see guy's faces when my tiny Mom got out of that big car.

Please tell me you also sport a mullet and are the proud owner of an extensive flannel shirt collection, because that would just complete the perfect image of you.

Ugh, I've lived in North Carolina too long...

There's something about you, guju, that immediately gave away that you're a girl 🙂

Dude, I really don't appreciate you posting details about my personal appearance all over SDN. 😡 :meanie:

Just got accepted to Miami!!! Soooo stoked!

Come on guys, increase posts output.

Guys, or actually, girls - why has there been a drop as of lately in your output.
Remember, you have an audience, and taking that into account, you must try to post as often as possible in order to entertain us all. This message really goes out towards MrBurns, Unfrozen, and Q lol...

Please, resume. Thanks.

Haha, you know, yrodri...I've thought about that each of the 10 times I've had to bump this thread from the depths of pre-allo. We all know I have nothing but sarcasm, inappropriate sexual comments, and mint M&M critiques to offer to this thread, and I didn't want the people who actually wanted to talk about FL schools to feel like I'm trying to overthrow their thread. That's why I've cut back a bit on the posting/bumping. However, I still have nothing better to do at work and I will always enjoy pointless conversations (as long as they're not about affirmative action...ugh 🙄 ), so if my services are needed to keep this thread at the top, then keep this thread at the top I will do!

Besides, making fun of caveman and Q makes me feel better about myself, and if that's not what SDN is all about then I've completely missed the point of this website.

Burnsie:

You make me laugh. Ok that's all.

Ok, I gotta get back to school stuff. TTYL!!!!

Speaking of innuendos, I'm REALLY looking forward to spending some time together with you, Burnsie. 😍 We can face each other and gawk and point about how we're identical twins.

Hey guys, got accepted to Miami today!! Definitely very exciting.
Congrats Runner!

I'll go...study... for my final now....arg, with what moral? I soo don't feel like doing anything now. 😀 Certainly nothing academic.

Hey now, only one of us is sporting a mullet- business in the front, party in the back. We do, however, share our passionate love for flannel. By the way, words cannot express my hatred for our current AIM conversation... :meanie:

Aww, I love you too, guju. And congrats, RunnerMD and Hurricane95! Man, if UM is anything like this thread, it's going to be hard to pass it up...

If UM is anything like this thread, our state is in BIIIIIIG trouble. And don't mock my mullet; you know you want it for your very own. 😉

Congrats Hurricane and Runner!

Uh oh.... Who's it going to be?

Congrats hurricane and Runner .... I hope to see you both at Miami.

In any case, thank you MrBurns...

The purpose of this thread stopped at around page 17 or so.. I mean... Every now and then, we should attempt to throw out a comment about the florida schools (i.e. start up the FL vs Miami discussion... Discuss Mr. Larkin's martial arts moves he learned while in the military and his humor... talk about Hinkley's Nissan Z, etc.)... and then, back to talking about funny stuff.

In conclusion, throw some key words out that appear as though this thread has not lost its purpose... and then continue with your humor! Brilliant.

One has to admit there has been a suspicious dropoff of people who used to post here, and now don't. Frankly I too was blaming myself. I was also imagining getting to school next year and having people be like "Does that girl ever shut up?".

In other news, I just found out that I've been IMing various people in my office with my name showing up as "Turd Ferguson". I thought I changed that. According to my boss, I didn't.

Heh heh, it's funny because it's...bigger than a normal hat.

Well, it's either us or people stopped having things to post in general. I mean in August/September/October people were posting about secondaries, getting interviews, and getting decisions. Now there's very little to talk about except for the occasional great news from RunnerMD and Hurricane95, so it's just so easy to talk about chocolate and mullets. And, I admit, more fun.

I drive a saturn and I love it 😀 Congrats to all that got in to UM! I have an interview at Emory on monday, but after that it will just be deciding on schools. As far as the timeline goes... is there anything we should be doing at this point? So far I have accepted my acceptance to schools that have accepted me  I am guessing filling out the fafsa is next?

Yeah, but you need to wait until next month, and you might even want to do your taxes first (or for those of you who are, ahem, kids, get your parents to do theirs. 😉 ) Until they/you do, you won't get an accurate financial aid package.

Thanks everyone! I hope to see all of you guys there next year too!

Unfrozen, what kind of job do you have? Is that how you can post on SDN so much? I have an office job where, fortunately, the tech guys haven't blocked SDN 😉

Anyone else stuck behind a desk aaaaaaaaaaaaaall day?

¿Que? Do non-kids have to worry about their parents' taxes? What's going to change with my financial aid package with my tax return, exactly?

Holy crap. Do I really post that much?? That post alone might be enough to shame me off SDN forever.

I work at a consulting firm- a lot of hurry up and wait. Either I'm going nuts all day with work, or travel, or I'm sitting here doing absolutely nothing. I dont think my computer ever logs out of SDN (I've looked from other computers and seen the green light on under my name even when I'm not on or signed in).

Wow. I am a loser.

You actually count as a kid, caveman. :meanie: Some schools will count you as an adult if you're over 30, meaning that you are considered independent for financial aid purposes.

I don't know what will change; I don't make up financial aid packages. 😳 But if you submit FAFSA before filing your taxes, you get an ESTIMATED financial aid package. This then has to be corrected after you file your taxes. So I figure it's probably easier to just wait and file your taxes ASAP, then file FAFSA. You should be able to do both by the end of Jan. as soon as you get your W2s.

Unfrozen--a loser?? No way. Its just the opposite--you are one of the "superstars" of SDN

Anyway, I'm sorry if my comment came off in the wrong way--just wondering if I'm the only one out here in an Office Space type enviornment. Ok, gotta get back to those TPS reports and find my red swingline stapler 😉

Caveman, you can't stop posting! Once you do the Biggest Loser award would go to me, and I can't have that.

Does anyone know if you have to apply for scholarships to USF or is it where just have to sit around and wait until they pick you? Reminds me of elementary school recess. Sigh.

1. That's just it. These have got to be one in the same. And speaking of Office Space-esque moments, tonight is my office xmas party. Full report in the am.

2. Over 30? I'm all for never becoming an adult, but I think my parents are considering a murder-for-hire plot involving my death at this point.

3. That Chuck Norris post is hilarious.

Be careful tonight, caveman. A little while ago, I went out for a celebratory dinner with my lab (we had just received a huge grant from NIH, so my PI took us out to a fancy dinner), and I got drunk. Forget the fact that I had only been working there for less than 2 months and was only getting to know these people, but my PI is on the adcom at one of the schools I'm applying to. At least I'm a funny drunk... 😳

Is anyone familiar with a brand called Acer? I'm trying to buy a wedding/Christmas/Hannukah gift for my sister and her husband, and I want to get them a computer monitor. I found a 17 in. Acer LCD monitor for $230, which is a good price but I'm not familiar with the brand. Any comments or other suggestions?

And, no I wasn't offended... I've come to terms with my internet life. Plus I can scoff at others with more posts than me (ahem, Q), and people who have subscriptions to Cat Fancy magazine (Burns). Just know that on the weekends, I am usually partying with celebrities, achieving various feats of athleticism, travelling the globe, and so on. And tell everyone you know.

Oddly enough, I think the social hierarchy of SDN is turning out to be a lot like my high school life, which is totally scary. In the overall scheme of things, I'd consider myself a peripheral player. And someone once called me a "douche" on here.

Dude, I'm the MCAT subforum mod. Posting is my JOB. 😛 Most of the rest of my posts are me defending myself against all the people who called me a troll when I first joined SDN, as well as discussing oh so important topics like we have here on this esteemed FL thread. No one has ever called me a douche, though. :meanie:

BTW, I 😍 😍 😍 Miami. I just wanted you all to know. 😀

Did you see the new January issue of Cat Fancy? According to recently published studies, it's NOT a good idea to feed your cat in a crystal wine/martini glass; it can actually make your cat develop some sort of superiority complex, which can drastically affect the quality of its relationships with cats who are fed in plastic bowls or straight from the can. And all these years I thought those commercials were telling me how to treat my cat the best I can. Damn you, Sheba Cat Food!!!

It's also bad to dress your cat in a tshirt with a picture of you, and then wear a tshirt with a picture of your cat on it, and walk around with the cat in a stroller, but that never stopped you before.

For the last time it's not a cat, it's a sheep. Get it right.

Does anyone know or have experience when we should expect the next round of acceptances from UF?

Hey hello everyone

A quick serious questions here 🙂

Does anyone know if FSU invites for interview without all LORs being turned in?

If yes, do you know what the turnaround time usually is?
If not, do you know what the turnaround time usually is once the file is complete?

oh and BTW does anyone have the scoop on why must the self-eval be hand-written I mean I don't have the best hand-writing ever 🙂 Thanks.

I don't know for sure, but for some reason I seem to think it is the week before Christmas.

I'm not sure, but I doubt they would interview you before being "complete."

I had everything submitted by mid-August, was complete (notified by FSU) by early September, and was invited for an interview in early October.

Hope this helps!

I submitted to FSU in early September, and was complete October 16th. Yesterday I received my first interview from them! I have it next Thursday (the 15th), does anyone know how quickly you are notified if you are accepted/rejected from there?

About 2 & 1/2 weeks.

Where is everyone getting these road sign things?

I have the link at home. Someone posted the link on SDN also but I can't remember the thread that it was on. Let me know if you want it and I will send it to you when I get home. I can't seem to get my road sign to be clear. If anyone knows how to prevent the text from being distorted, let me know.

By the way, how was your office party?

I bet caveman got CRUNK. hmm...I need to reevaluate what slang I use in public.

So I was watching a show on Discovery Health Channel the other day and as they cut to commercial it said: "Obese at 16: A Life in the Balance. Brought to you by Nestle TollHouse Cookies." Well, at least the sponsor's on topic.

lol @ nestle.

You know what I find hilarious, that the epidemy of hypocrisy is that the truth commercials are funded by Phillip Morris. lol ..

I know it was a court mandate... but still, its quite odd.
