Your employer subsidizes anywhere from 20-60% of the cost of your plan. $100/month is a pretty good rate (though I haven't looked at the plan details so I don't know if the plan itself is any good, in terms of deductibles, in/out of network prices, copays, covered services, etc.).

If you looked at the COBRA rates for your plan, you'd probably see much higher monthly premiums, as these are the actual rates you'd pay if your employer weren't covering part of the cost.

Hey- real estate here is all over the map. I promise you'll be able to find something reasonable somewhere-- even in Coral Gables (the "ghetto" end). But there are a lot of up and coming neighborhoods that will be great-- downtown being one of them, the design district (north of downtown), brickell. Honestly, your best bet is to come down for a few days and get a good realtor to show you around (I did this moving from Philly, when I had no idea where anything was), and just get a sense for what is where and how much it costs.

Most likely if you are in the top 1/3 it pretty much means acceptance post May 15th, cuz tons of people drop acceptances at USF to go to other schools.

So this morning I was driving to work and stopped behind a van that had a bumper sticker that read: Marriage= picture of a man + picture of a woman. Okay honestly...why do some people care so much about something that doesn't remotely affect them, to the point where they put an unattractive and unwitty bumper sticker on their car?? Argh!

Agreed! The worst is when someone has like 25 stickers on their car (I've seen people from both sides of the political spectrum engage in this practice). I feel like saying to these people, "Hey you're not 13 and your car is NOT your locker!"

I've been to a lesbian wedding before (of course it wasn't legal) and I definitely think that 2 people should be able to devote their lives to each other regardless of their gender. I personally am heterosexual, but if 2 people love each other why should the heterosexuals try to stop them. Like you said, it doesn't affect them.

And how I do hate those oh so tacky bumper stickers all over cars. Though my personal favorite is "Not every sperm needs a name"

Yeah I'm not gay either (yet), but gay rights is one of the issues I care about the most. I love how heterosexual people say that homosexuals "choose" to be gay...how would they know? Did they choose to be heterosexuals? Why on earth would anyone choose to go through the crap gay people go through if they really had a choice? I think your stance is great. I'm not saying the church or other religious groups have to recognize gay marriage, but the government certainly should.

In a weird way, I feel so relieved! In the past few days, I had been leaning towards UM, but couldn't justify paying the extra tuition.

Anyway, I sent in my withdrawal to FSU, so I'm now like 99.999999% sure I'm going to be a Hurricane again! Which reminds me...I'm thinking of transferring to the main campus. Who did you send the e-mail to? Hinkley specifically, or the admissions office?

and I agree...yrodri, I stay up at night thinking about you, wondering which you're going to choose. As a neurosurgeon married to a supermodel and with the farm of rare, exotic animals you keep up on the side, you'll more than make up the difference in tuition (which isn't all that much in the grand scheme of things).

I had a struggle with UF and Um for a brief period of time... but then something magical happened.... Dr. Hinkley whispered in my ear as I slept that only Miami students will be saved from the great floods on the ark of Ezekial... So let it be told, after that night, I went back to being 99.99% sure I will attend UM, and consequently, attain salvation. All Hail Dr. Hinkley!

That being so, Red Tide should not worry. We will spend countless nights in the E.R., sharing a cup of warm curry tea, reminiscing about "times past'" (*note: text in quote is to be said in an English Accent).

Excellent. Now you just need to decide what role you're going to play in the band. Current openings that I can think of off the top of my head: accordion, cymbal (or did someone take that?), creepy children's piano, pots and pans, turntable DJ, dual-ribbon dancer, and guy with really long hair that just headbangs at the front-center of the stage (you know, to get the crowd going). The metro can be used for the first two years... however, during the third year, your schedule becomes much too erratic to depend on the metro.. and lets say, riding the metro at night is not the BEST idea...... I would definitely opt for driving there... You might want to keep that in mind when selecting a place.

Based on my interview day experience at JMH (in broad daylight, I might add), I highly recommend AGAINST walking to your car alone at night there. Get the security to escort you. Seriously. JMH is not in the greatest area.
