I'd say unless you screw up big at the interview- you're in. Those stats are highly competitive and after speaking with one of professors who's on Admissions he says they look very highly on LOR's from pharmacists. I also think they're not interviewing that many this year just people that they're pretty sure about.
As far as Orlando, I love it here. We have one of the most laid back campuses (Jacksonville as well). There was a paper published last year about how Jacksonville and Orlando had students who were less stressed and enjoyed their lives more. There are many reasons for this, I'm sure. I have a friend who's at our campus now who was in Gainesville for the past 2 years and she says that she wishes that she would've been in Orlando the whole time. She says it's more like a family and less competitive amongst students. She also says she feels like she's learned more and that the facilitators are more easy going.

Trannie is a 3PD. 6 more weeks and we start our rotations.
When I interviewed, the dean said that they're interviewing 350 and accepting 300. So your chances are quite high, but don't let your guard down completely.

Hey, Wynn. My interview is also on March 9th at the Gainesville campus. I think I have to change the date because I will be on a service trip to New Orleans. Congratulations to everyone. I felt all my hard work has really been paid off although I still believe I'm just an average person. Here is my stats by the way:
Pharmcas Overall GPA: 3.78
Science: 3.75
Math: 3.94
PCAT: 82 Percentile
Extracurricular activities: Undergraduate Teacher's Assistant
FSU PILLS Tresurer ( 2 years)

English is not my first language, and I hope the admission commitee will not put too much emphasis on my accent.

Pay the deposit.. even if it's just for the peace of mind. You never know, something unimaginable could happen... maybe something that prevents you from making your interview, etc..
I paid my deposit for Wingate 3 days before UF accepted me. 😳
congrats! Chemmy was wondering if you got that email recently about if your file was completed or not and also if you don't mind could you post up your stats
I received the email saying that my application was complete on 1/27/07 then I received a letter in the mail on 2/1/07 inviting me for an interview.
My stats
GPA: 4.0
PCAT: 76 (I took it again in Jan and I know I did much better. I had a bad day the first time I took it)
I am a part of a lot of extracurricular activities at school including the Student Government Association, Environmental Club, Phi Theta Kappa, tutoring, and different volunteer activities.
I have never had a job in a pharmacy but I have a job in the health care field.

actually, their first real set of interviews is during march. i think they interviewed 8 or 9 people in december to practice the whole interview process. also i was at a pre-pharmacy meeting last night and dr. mckenzie said that they were interviewing 350 for like 300 spots. he made it sound like the interview was more of a formality and that it would be the exception if you don't get accepted afterwards. i hope this helpsi have the interview for march 9th too. my stats are 3.45 gpa and 88 pcat. if you guys hear anything from anyone about how the january interviews went let me know. i wanna be prepared...hehe. good luck!
thanks ufgator, definitely a relief. hope we'll see each other in the fall!
ubiquitin- i sent my pharmcas a little late too, jan 12th, and sent my u supplemental stuff about a week or less later. i received the invitation for interview feb 14th. so i guess about a month or so. good luck!

Trancelucent1..can you tell me how often do you actually go on campus? Is most of the class online? Thanks

On campus time depends on the year you're in: 1st year about 3 days/week, 2nd year about 2-3days/week (mostly exams). 3rd year: every day. As far as most classes online I'd say it depends. We have presentations and case studies on campus. We have facilitators who are practicing pharmacists so we get real-world experiences. We definately have group work and I've never felt like classes were strictly online. Some classes are all online and others require group exercises and presenations. You have plenty of opportunities to interact with your classmates which is nice. At this point we're like one big happy family and I'm really going to miss everyone when we go on rotations.i got an interview for UF Jax campus on March 30th...

hey allierxgator, i probably know you, or at least have seen you around. I was in the pre pharm society too. I havent been there all this year though because the meetings conflicted with my classes. congrats on your stats, those are impressive. anyway, do you know how many people from the club have been invited for interviews. or do you know if anyone has actually been rejected yet?
Hey guys! Just wondering if any of you January PCATers have heard a word from UF. I know the scores aren't out yet, but I heard a rumor that some people were already offered interviews even w/o a score. Anyone else heard anything? I'm getting very anxious.
I really doubt that the Jan PCATers were being offered intervies unless they have a 4.0 and great LOR...but i guess could be true...cores are out now...they mailed them out today....i am depending on my jan PCAT and i have not heard from them...
just heard today i got accepted to NOVA, already accepted to PBA, UF interview Friday
What time are your interviews on friday? We have an exam from 2-4pm so I'll be on campus then. Good luck everyone!

My interview is from 10-10:15. I am planned to be on campus from 9-11am. I know UF over all is interviewing 350 and accepting 300, but do you know how many are being interview at Orlando this Friday? Good luck to everyone! 😀
got an interview at the orlando campus march 2nd as well, anyone know how many people uf is going to interview? or the chance of getting into pharm school without any pharmacy experience?
I am an officer in the Pre-Pharmacy Society here in Gainesville. Our faculty advisor is Mike McKenzie ( the guy that signed our letters for interview invitation) and he said they will interview 350 and accept 300. And he said they are expecting and hoping to accept everyone from the first round of interviews at each location! Good luck!!
If you get in- what are you going to do about finding a place to live/ roommates? Just post on the Orlando COP website?

I'm a 1PD in Orlando without any pharmacy experience. 🙂 Just do a great job explaining you know what you're getting yourself into. eg: you've researched the career... talked to plenty of pharmacists and pharmacy techs to get a feel of the job and the pros and cons, etc... I think about 25% of my class didn't have pharmacy experience before starting. Good luck!!
just curious, what ethnicity/age/race/gender/etc are you all who will be in orlando on march 2nd?
im a 22 year old, white, male
👍 to diversity!
