My god, does this suck. I've been sitting here with the flu trying to study, believe me it's difficult as hell. I would be using this time to sleep, but I have this very very annoying itch on my nose that prevents me from doing so. Also, I'm turning my head every 30 minutes to make sure there's no stiffness.

I feel for you, man. I've got this cold (not nearly as bad a shape as you're in, I'm sure) -- and I'm sitting here trying to study for our extremities exam... as if lists of which muscles were in which compartment weren't hard enough without being so zonked out you can't tell medial from lateral and hallux from pollux. I can't imagine doing it with the flu!

I hear you. Got my Upperlimbs/Abdomen test on the way. Dang prof is going to cover the arms so only the tendons are showing.

Please...you haven't lived 'til you've done histo and biochem exam/finals with mono.

I'm sorry -- I can empathize. I caught pneumonia before an exam and it was a miserable experience. Eventually I realized that I was going to be unable to do anything that weekend (which is a problem, since I generally start studying the weekend before an exam!) and emailed the professor. I was nervous about contacting him, because this was a micro class, and I was afraid he was going to say "Pneumonia, is that it? Stop being a baby and take the exam on Monday." However he was very nice and allowed me to take the exam later in the week. If you are really feeling miserable, you might want to consider taking that option. (However, that opens up a whole new can of worms, namely falling behind in your other classes while you make up the exam! 😱 )

I hope you feel better soon.

Had to take my biochem test today with pink eye, and I thought that was bad. I feel for you.

Flu shot baby! 😎 maybe it will cover the strains this year, maybe not. i was lucky to get one... they set aside a batch for the med, pharm, and nursing students.

Hey, I have mononucleosis right now and I'm a first year. It has been terrible. I am supposed to be in the recovery stage but I keep getting fevers. I have two exams this week and one next week. I can't till the mono goes away. It has been awful.

We're required to take 7 days off if we come down with the flu.... I also heard a rumor that we're required to take a week off if we take the nasal spray flu vaccine, since it uses live virus....

At our school, first and second years don't get the flu vaccine. I'm waiting for a mini-epidemic to break out, given the number of people sitting together all day every day!

One word for you: steroids. Though opinions are mixed on their use in uncomplicated cases, I can tell you that for me it was a magic bullet. I felt like ass; night sweats, fever, etc., 24 hours after popping the first coupla cortico's, I was good to go. Seriously, have your doc hook you up tomorrow. It'll make a world of difference.
