In one of his audios, he asks:
how many liters of isotonic saline do you have to infuse to get 1 liter into the plasma?
He answers: 3! 2 will end up in intertitial space and 1 lit end up in vascular compartment.



I don't know why 3, not 4. Isn't plasma volume 1/4th of the extracellular fluid

I could be not remembering correctly, but doesnt he say right before that that the plasma is 1/3 of the ECF? So that answer is based off of him assuming a different ratio of plasma to interstitial fluid than you or Costanzo does. So just ignore it when you hear it and assume you would need 4. Thats what I do.
