hey guys, i am an FMG (caribbean), US citizen. just found out i failed CS. pretty devastated. planning on taking CK early sept. Do i need to re-take CS in order to apply? i'm applying for family medicine. even if i do, there is no way i can get my score back before apps go out - how bad will this hurt my application? my step1 is below average. should i delay applying til next year? let me know what you think. thanks!

You will not get many interviews with a failure on CS and no pass yet, no CK and a carib grad (also which carib school you went to as well). If you have other failures on the steps, that number goes down. More US grads are applying FM now. I would try to identify why you failed CS, work on that, get first aid CS and go through all the cases (those are pretty much spot on for the CS cases) and retake ASAP. Applying without CK does not help either. If you just got nervous and failing was a fluke (it does happen), maybe if you have a friend in a residency program that can put in a word for you it could help.
