Hi, I am an undergrad student who is getting ready to apply for physical therapy schools next year. I am looking to better my chances for getting accepted into PT school and aside from grades/PT volunteer hours I was curious about how good certifications look when applying to PT schools. I currently have a NASM CPT and I am considering between obtaining a Functional movement screening certification or NASM corrective exercise specialist certification. Does anyone have any experience with these certifications? Could anyone recommend which certification would be more highly regarded by PT schools? Thanks!!

I don't have any specifics on what a PT school may want more, but I would do the FMS. It also has the SFMA as well. I have read the Movement book which goes through the FMS and SFMA. I am looking at getting certified in the FMS as well..

Ok, are they any reasons why you would choose the FMS over the NASM CES?

I would say more people in the PT field have heard of FMS, which if you're doing to pad your application to PT school would be a benefit.
