You must be a legit SAVAGE and overcame a ton of hardship. Maybe you grew up in poverty in the trailerpark. Maybe you escaped from a North Korean gulag at 15, were granted asylum in America, came out as transgender, and generally led an exemplary life - thus granting you interviews at some of the finest medical schools in the country.
Walt, is that you?
Congratulations on your success so far and good luck going forward.Hey everybody! I kept getting asked if I was on SDN and got asked lots of questions during my interview trail. Decided to make an MDApps profile to hopefully inspire others. Check it out and read my reflections about the cycle/interviews here:

I can't handle this, first the return and re-return of Cali, now Walter might be back? I demand a full scale witch hunt!It issss 😆 😆
From his post history, his fav word is SAVAGE.
Congratulations on your success so far and good luck going forward.
As an aside, how and why did you read you LORs? Aren’t they supposed to be confidential?
Same for me, read two of my LORs - hope they all look like that...unsolicited LORs being sent to you are nice. Good confidence boost when you can see others like you as much as we pretend to like ourselves.Thanks. The letter writers sent them to me voluntarily after submitting it. I didn’t even ask them to and by that time the letters were already sent to all of my schools.
Spoiler alert: OP’s usernameHey everybody! I kept getting asked if I was on SDN and got asked lots of questions during my interview trail. Decided to make an MDApps profile to hopefully inspire others. Check it out and read my reflections about the cycle/interviews here:

Hey, OP could’ve escaped from a North Korean gulag; that would be a SAVAGE story of determination and courage.Congratulations!
But I would be hesitant with throwing around "the probability of someone from my background going into medicine is close to zero". At my school alone, there are 3 students that I know of who overcame horrendous circumstances. Their stories are not mine to tell, but they involve witnessing parental murder, poverty, gang violence, and dropping out before the 9th grade. Students who probably couldn't even name a school within the top 20 because that was never an option in their world. And when talking to friends from other schools, they report having a handful of students from similar backgrounds.
What you overcame is respectable and I commend you. However, while you are indeed a rare applicant, you are not a shining anomaly. Keep that in mind along your journey.
Congratulations!

You're right. I think there needs to be a better way to differentiate SAVAGE from plain ole' savage.Hey, OP could’ve escaped from a North Korean gulag; that would be a SAVAGE story of determination and courage.
Your interview Invite came the same day you interviewed for UCLA?
We interviewed the same day, then!Mistake, I interviewed +1 month after the invite!
Much of what makes something SAVAGE or not is in the narrative. OP is borderline SAVAGE and definitely plain ole' savage with their life story; a good narrative or strong LORs could definitely make them a SAVAGE. Besides, whether something is SAVAGE or not is often subjective: there's no clear definition of SAVAGE for ECs or life experiences, unlike things like MCAT or GPA.You're right.
