Applying to Rheumatology this cycle and would like any input on my chances.

American IMG grad. No red flags.
USMLE: 229, 225, 220.
Current PGY2 at a community program in NY without inhouse academic affiliation.
Average to positive evaluations on all rotations.
LoRs: Community Rheumatologist, PD, and 2 outpatient.
4 Published studies (2 rheum, 2 cardio); 2 case reports, 2 posters, 1 QI, 1 book chapter.
Unable to do away electives due to COVID.
Applying to 80 programs.

Should I apply to more?
What can I do to improve my chances?

A better approach would be to see the stats of your previous grads with similar backgrounds

Based on my limited observation, if you have a green card, you may have significant chance of match. If not, it may be slightly less certain. You publications are certainly above average.

I do feel that fellowship programs care more about interviews than residencies (because of a much smaller interviewee pool). So prepare it well
