my aadsas and checks photos letters etc etc have been out for awhile. the only thing i was waiting on was my DAT scores,which went out about 10 days ago from aadsas. by the looks of it(from sdn and other non-sdn friends),most schools have interview dates filled up to nov/dec. this obviously means that im getting interviews after the dec 1st date-so my question is...is that such a horrible thing? i sdn searched for last years applicants,and it seems like alot of schools interview through jan/feb/etc and still accept people...so all of us september DAT'ers should be okay,right? empty mailboxes suck. empathize,damnit!

I am in the same shoes. I too took the DAT pretty late and am anxiously waiting for the answers from the dental schools. Keep in mind that there are a few schools that have not granted the interviews yet (i.e. Tufts, UCSF, UCLA!). Plus, a plenty of people that interviewed after Dec. of last year got in! With your awesome DAT score, you have nothing to worry about. Let's hope the interview invitations roll around soon! 😀

My interview will probly be after the new year! I am retaking the DAT OCt 31! Happy Halloween to me!🙂 But sit tight everyone, b/c I know alot of the top rate schools like Tufts, NYU, USC and UNLV host interview well into late march early april.
 
I Took my DAT on August 30th. and my stuff was mailed by aadsas on august 12 or so.. dat scores mailed sept 8th..

just got my Columbia interview, and its for Jan 5th.. certain schools are either booked or there are tiers of applicants and when you call to schedule they offer you dates for your tier... I think its more likely the former...

I suggest, once you get a notice.. call and schedule..
my friend found out about her Columbia interview today as well.. and i made her call right away.. she got Dec 22. I found out about an hour later.. and called once i found out.. Jan 5th....

also got a Meharry interview today for Nov 5th 😀

i want a columbia interview.now,pleeeeez😀 at any rate,im okay with getting late interviews because i saw that many people from last cycle got accepted with interviews after mid-december.

i keep telling my self that the normal dates dont apply this year since there is such a spike in # of applicants.. Still holding out for a few more schools.

why hasnt columbia recognized my awesomeness yet😎 haha jk. did you/your friend call them yesterday?
 
My DAT's mailed on Sept. 14. I got an interview at Nova, but not until Feb. and just got an interview for ASDOH which I scheduled on Oct. 30.

yeah , she called eysterday, about an hour before me..

give it a week.. i think you'll get your letter in about that time....
and once you do.. call.. dont wait a day, hour, or minute..

I attended the first day of a kaplan course in the summer(taught by a guy named Mike, who was a med student).. but then stopped going cause it was far too crowded and some of other students seem like they would be highly disruptive all summer.. ( i had taken the course earlier in the year and was retaking mainly to have continued access to online materials using there guarantee)

Why? were you in a course this summer? Midtown?
 
I also took the Kaplan class during summer...and the instructor was also a pre-med student got 35 on the MCAT...but he sucks.
 
MCAT/pre med students should not be allowed to teach the DAT course.. they dont know the focus of the exam.. and the guy i had clearly wanted us to all know how much smarter he was than all of us.. I have a feeling a lot of the MCAT guys would have a similar attitude, unfortunately for the DAT student.

I have been considering teaching for kaplan, but dont know if it would be worth the stress and i really dont know what i think about the program its self.. dont want to become one of those kaplan instructors that just reads off the kaplan tele-prompter to their students..

Hrm..my Kappy was the NYU one down in the village. You just sounded alot like someone that was in my class. Anyway,Kappy....what a waste. I shouldve just gotten the review notes book from someone.

I took the DAT for the first time on 9/18 and have an interview on 10/23. I am only applying to one school though so that might be the reason.

Looks like I hopped on this train late. Amsie, we're definately in the same boat, except I probably took my DAT much later than you (Oct 9). My application was submitted July 9th. No news from any school except from one of my staters telling me to retake the DAT (ironically a couple of days before I actually retook it). Anyways, surf around predents.com from last year's cycle. Note some of the kids who were accepted at the private schools (ie Tufts, BU, Marquette, Case, USC, etc.). Quite a few to my knowledge were interviewed after the month of Decemeber. Some were actually admitted several days after their interview! Even some of the state schools were the same way. Patience, my friend. Like someone said earlier, no news is good news (for the moment anyway), until we get our interviews. Hang in there.

So I took the DAT August 22nd and I have an interview at Nova January 5th. I had no idea so many people would be getting interviews so soon! I know some people that are applying for the same year as us and haven't even taken the DAT yet! 😱

The whole thing about the class being full by Dec 1st must not be true... there is no way. They wouldn't even waste our time/their time with the interview if they weren't considering us.

Nova is crazy this year though! I can't believe how many applicants they got!

YAY!!!! apps completed in early Oct. so far...got the two interview invites! so excited!!! 😀
