After applying to literally over 50 retail pharmacies, I FINALLY have an interview with CVS on Friday.

Does anyone have any pointers or advice? I want to be as prepared as possible!

Thanks much!

these interviews are preety laid back so dress nice and be yourself it is not like they quiz you on information. They just want people who are trustworthy dependable, and detail oriented. good luck

If you have other customer service experience in your background, be sure to stress that - it's very important in the retail environment. Be on time, but don't show up too early. Have some questions in mind - you can even write them down ahead of time and take them with you, so that you won't just sit there when they ask if you have questions. Be sure that you get a sense of what their scheduling needs are - it's important to get a good fit between the store's needs and what you are willing to do.

Good luck

Actually - I'm pretty sure they do give you a test. Its part math and part personality test. It was actually kind of funny. They ask the same questions over and over again - to see if you will answer them differently the next time.

Wait a second - I am thinking of Walgreens... hahaha - my bad. To be honest with you - I didnt really like the retail side of the house. I took a postion with the teaching hospital associated with UF - Good luck to you - Im sure you will do fine.

The best way to get into a pharmacy with NO experience is to know someone... Referrals come HIGHLY recommended.

Congrats that is so very exciting for you! I just got a job with Albertsons pharmacy this week after applying EVERYWHERE so I know how you feel. I stressed in my interview that I was applying to pharmacy school for next year (which I'm assuming you are). Best of luck.

Kroger made me read scripts. 🙁 I didnt do so well but im still pretty sure i got the job.

Were any of you tested on conversions?

I live in the Southern California region and most of the Savon stores are converting or have converted to CVS and it was so easy for me to get a job. Three different pharmacy managers wanted to hire me and I chose the one my mom knew 🙂 . Anyway if you're pre-pharm I highly suggest finding a job now because it will never be this easy again. Oh and Im getting paid as a pharmacy tech even though I'm not licensed or certified. My mom knowing my boss has its perks.

They won't give you a math test. An interview is just a chance for the employer to see who you are. They're not testing your knowledge. Once you're in the pharmacy however....

It's always good to have questions. Try to ask questions like, "What will I be doing in your pharmacy" or "How many prescriptions a day does the pharmacy file." pointless, but questions to show that you're interested.

Oh, and leave the wages for last.

I GOT THE JOB!!!

😀

Thanks for all the advice everyone!!! I really appreciate it!

Congrats! Does anyone know how long it'll take for me to pick up the drug generic vs brand and all the abbreviations that doctors use? It's as if this is a whole different language. Plus the computers are complicated too.

make sure you let them know that you are a problem solver. techs always have to find ways to get around insurance problems and the such and they want to know that you're not gonna freak out when you encounter these issues.
