All ASA members who are also AMA members are encouraged to designate ASA as the medical specialty society that best represents their interests.
Out of 109 medical specialty societies included in the AMA House of Delegates, ASA currently ranks third in terms of number of members who have specified it as their specialty. As such, ASA is allotted nine members in its delegation to the AMA House of Delegates. For every 1,000 additional AMA members who select ASA as their specialty society, ASA will receive one added delegate.
