So i need some convincing....I was born and raised in Philly but have lived in Denver for several years. I was accepted at Colorado (class of 48, brand new everything) and will spend about 80k for four years as compare to spending a grip more at PENN. Both are great schools....do any Quakers out there feel that going to penn is worth the extra couple hundred thousand. Any advice would mean a ton....this decision is driving me nuts....

is it 80k for everything (tuition, fees, living)? I didn't apply to colorado so i'm not sure how much it is but for me, penn didn't seem like it's worth the tuition they charge (yes, i was accepted. but i also declined their offer for state schools). i was going to consider going if they offered me dean's but they didn't so i declined their offer. i didn't like the city too much and the school's facilities (mostly the basement lecture halls & sim labs) was a big turn off.

I'm planning on going to upenn at this point. I'm on the waitlist for my state school which would be vastly cheaper... penn is my #1 choice anyway, so it gives me an excuse to go there 🙂 If I were you, I would strongly consider staying in state. As much as I love penn, it's hard to justify well over 200k difference if you have that cheaper option. good luck with your decision

I chose UPenn over my state school (Stonybrook) primarily because I loved the school's atmosphere and campus. I felt like I fit right in, and I would be happy being there for 4 years of my life.

$200K difference is no joke, but choose the school you liked more during your interview...solely basing your decision on money isn't always the best. good luck!

Say what is the story at UPenn these days? Any news about a new Dean? What was the story about the firing of the last Dean? Are all the students happy and content now that the old Dean is gone?

i would go to colorado in a second!
