Hi aPD - I caught the "worst case scenario" thread, and you mentioned that US graduates need not participate in the match, and may accept pre-match offers and then withdraw from the NRMP.

I'm a 2007 US allo graduate, and I've applied through ERAS, registered with NRMP.

There's a possibility that one of my top program might offer me a pre-match spot. If I get an interview offer there through ERAS, is it legal for me to bring it up at the interview? Is it even advisable, or should I contact the PD beforehand about this?

Thanks so much!😳

I'm not aPD, but I'm also a US grad, so I'm familiar with the rules for this. Discussing a potential pre-match offer is entirely permissible if you are not a U.S. senior. What neither you nor the program can do is ask how you would be ranked for the match portion of the process, if no pre-match is offered.

It doesn't matter at all how they got your application, or how they contacted you for an interview, or even whether you're currently registered with NRMP.
