I heard that some medical schools provide scholarships or other incentives for applicants who are fluent Spanish speakers. Can anyone verify this? I've been trying to find out via google searches but haven't gotten very far, so if anyone has inside advice or direct experience with this, please let me know!
Muchas Gracias

Hola, que tal?

As far as I know, there is no such thing as a scholarship for being bilingual. But if you are of Mexican or Puerto Rican descent, it's possible that you might get a diversity scholarship for URMs at some schools. If you're sure that the scholarship is for being bilingual, you should probably ask whomever told you there was a scholarship like this to give you more info about it. If you do find one, would you mind coming back and posting the info on this thread? I'm sure some of the other SDN users on this forum would appreciate having that info as well.

If you have a specific school in mind, call them.

as someone fluent in spanish, i can only dream this to life!

that being said, i seriously doubt it. perhaps contacting someone at fafsa, or the school you are trying to attend would help you find the answer.

They do, however, have minority scholarships, as well as latin specific scholarships

At my western school, I and probably 1/3 of the class speak Spanish. It helps with patient interaction, but I've not heard of any financial support because we're hispanohablantes. There are a number of minority scholarships, but these are ethnicity rather than language-ability based.
