Ever since you?ve started med school, have you grown apart from your original friends and start hanging out with new friends from school? Or have you still kept in contact with your old friends? Which groups of friends do you prefer to hang out and socialize with? Who do you think, after med school, will you be closer to?

I'm an MSII. Although I still talk with my friends from before med school, I feel like my med school friends understand me best. They are going through most of the same things, so I find it easier to talk to them. A lot of us noticed, particularly during MSI year, that we didn't have anything to say to anyone outside of school, because medical school is all that we did. It tends to take up your world.

Also, once you're in med school, family and friends alike introduce you as the daughter/sister/friend in medical school. It gets a little annoying. 🙄

I hang out w/ lots of friends from med school.

Their names are Netter, Moore, Grant, Robbins, Harrison, Merck, etc.

They are there with me in bed, there when I wake up, there when I study, and there to haunt me in my dreams. They also help me build up muscle mass as I carry them from places to places. And sometimes they are kind enough to hold the door open for me.

Definitely have a different social life than when I started at COMP. Its completely different. Just hope that your friends from home are understanding when you can't call them back or you can't see them...and when the best way for you to be in touch with them is via email. Its hard to balance the 2 different lives you have. You make great friends in med school...its unavoidable, you're with these people at all times, and only your classmates really understand what you're going through.

But whats wrong with making new friends? Thats what life is all about.

Just have faith in your friendships outside of med school.

This is a good reason why one should go to school FAR AWAY from home. The less distractions you have from the outside world the better off you will be. This includes parents, siblings etc. You can still love them even if phone calls are once a week....on sat/sun mornings.

This is comforting, it makes me think that I *gulp* chose the right school to attend next year.
