While the 12 months house job requirement is not required to TAKE the PLAB, the problem arises when you look for a position after the PLAB&gt; Since the number of Pre-registration HOs are linked to the number of graduates, it's difficult to find a PRHO job, while if you've done 12 months of HO-ship, you can apply for a Senior HO job. I'm not sure about the 6 med/6 surg thing, since it varies from specialty to specialty.
