For those who have used Pathoma, do you think you can survive only on an annotated Pathoma (annotated with lecture notes + leftover FA), maybe some webpath, and BRS phys...or is 2nd year path just too dense to fit into the 200-page pathoma book? I think for me, I'd like to just get multiple passes at a book (Pathoma, BRS phys) and learn that 100% cold by boards then start with Goljan RR and not get through it by boards.

Thanks.

I spoke with my school's course director. She told me that she had just met with a student who did poorly using outside sources alone for path. She told me that she's going to test us only on what in her notes.

With that said, I'm not sure... I think this would be at least a small risk.

This is my 2 cents after completing my second year with a similar strategy. For your first test, drink the kool-aid and follow everything the school says to a TEE so you understand what is required to do well on the exams. After the first exam, ditch the school lectures, understand CONCEPTS with pathoma and DETAILS from other books (CMMRS, BRS, etc) supplement with PROBLEMS (preferably questions from Robbin Review of Pathology, PreTest, or UWorld) and use First Aid as only an organized CHECK-LIST.

Then during the week of your exam, sit-down and MEMORIZE the school material that is expected for your exam.

If you are an overachiever there is also online lectures on Robbins as well as books like Baby Robbins that follow your class fairly well.
