I’m curious about which number program (ranked) that people in psychiatry ended up in on average. Thanks.

Couldn't find the stats anywhere! Thanks for input. Not sure about on average. I would guess that statistic is out there somewhere for psych but not sure. NRMP has stats for the broader class of grads, though
I matched at #1.
Truth right here. Hopefully posting results with the anonymity of the Internet can alleviate the stigma of not matching at your #1.Everyone matches #1. If not on match day, then certainly the next year when they're telling people how far down their list they went to get to the program they're training at.

Anecdotally, I have heard very few people who ranked below their top 4 in psych. The most likely way to not make top 3 are somehow getting a bunch of flyer interviews at top tier places with a mid tier application, moderate red flags that make you hireable but less desirable, or being an IMG/Caribbean grad.
For an N of 1, I ranked at my 3rd due to my first being a flyer (wait listed, got in for the interview at end of cycle), 2nd was home program that filled home slots the year I graduated with people they liked more than me. I actually spent a lot of time deciding between 3 and 4 and am oh so glad I ranked my 3rd as I did, as the program and location ended up being a great fit. Everything people say, is based on real numbers, so spend your time on the top 3-4 and make sure they are truly in the order you want. If you know you are a weak applicant then certainly spend a bit more time with the lower rankings.
flyer interviews
Thanks for the insight! How do you determine if an interview is a flyer interview for you?
