For Physical Sciences Which is Better, TBR or PR?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Biology: 1. EK Bio + EK 1001 Bio, non-detail oriented 1. BR/TPR Hyperlearning, detail oriented 3. Kaplan

Physics
: 1. BR 2. Nova 3. TPR Hyperlearning 4. Kaplan

Verbal: 1. EK Verbal + EK 101 Verbal 2. TPR Hyperlearning 3. BR 4. Kaplan (Avoid if possible)

Organic Chemistry: 1. BR, by far 2. TPR Hyperlearning 3. EK/Kaplan

General Chemistry: 1. BR, by far 2. TPR Hyperlearning 3. EK/Kaplan

Extra Practice Material: 1. TPR Hyperlearning Verbal Workbook + TPR Hyperlearing Science Workbook, good source of practice passages 2. EK 1001 series, helps nail down basics

My vote is probably predictable, but it's because the original author of Hyperlearning's chemistry and some of the physics left to start BR. It's like BR is the more evolved version of the Hyperlearning book, where there are more passages, more concepts, and more test tricks.

well the TBR Gen Chem was better than TPR's. But I think you could make an argument for the fact that TPR's Physics was more thorough than TBR's. People tend to like TBR because it has passages, which is nice...but you could also get the TPR Science Workbook, which has plenty of passages. They are both good resources if you want plenty of practice though.

For Physics, I will say that I did like PR in terms of content review better.

But, the BR passages make BR much better overall.

So, I would pick BR as my one source.

Go with TBR. They have the best materials for PS. TBR has several MCAT style passages along with many conceptual questions within each section as you do the content review.

To answer OP: I would say BR is great at most of the Physics topics; however, its Electromagnetism/Electrostatics is often criticized. PR has a great chapter on Electromagnetism/Electrostatics. I would say that if you have a good understanding of this topic and if you did well in your Physics class, then you should go with Berkeley Review - because BR gives a little bit detailed version than PR. PR is most a kind of like a summary of a Physics Text - but that does not mean it is not good. I personally use them both - I really like the analogies in the PR book, and I like the amount of practice in the BR book.
