Hey guys, I was just wondering when you all applied for scholarships before starting your first year, like the merit scholarship from Pitt for example - I don't think we are getting any financial packets until April.
Also, do you recommend any other scholarships to apply for that soon to be dental students headed to Pitt or elsewhere should look into? Thanks a bunch!! 🙂

I also had another question to add. I hope Brittnylee doesn't mind. 🙂

Where's the best place for students to live and when is the best time to apply for an apartment?

I am not sure when you apply for different scholarships at Pitt. That is a great questions to ask Rose Mangold in the admissions office. I know that Pitt awards two Dean's Scholarships out each year. This scholarship is not one that you apply for per se, they just decide based on all of the applications for admissions. This scholarship unlike some other schools is not awarded when the admission letter is sent but a few weeks afterwards. I hope this helps at least a little bit.

Turning to the other question. I would recommend living in Shadyside, Squirrel Hill or South Oakland at least for your first year. All of these neighborhoods are near campus, allowing short walks or free bus rides (with Pitt ID). I would recommend doing some prep work early by looking at www.postgazette.com or www.pittnews.com for apartments. Most people actually sign the lease and choose the apartment during the summer orientation.
