I don't think it could be brought back because it already deleted. But the thread was very helpful. my friend told me you could get at least 10+points by reading that....since that's all "key" questions about part1....

Dear moderators
could you please make an effort to answer why did you delete the MOST IMPORTANT THREAD IN THIS FORUM
when so many students who view your site regularly are insisting on that thread, could you please add it on

IT HAD SO MANY IMP. QUESTIONS?

Hello

I usually save all imp stuff on my computer...so maybe I can help only if you could tell me what thread specifically you are all talking abo'!!

I'm not sure what thread you are all talking abo' specifically...and was it a thread by anybody in particular??!!

it was deleted because it is cheating to discuss unreleased questions.
why do so many people resort to cheating in D school?

To quote the ADA:"Individuals who breach the confidentiality of an examination may face serious consequences, including voiding of National Board scores and notification to state boards of dentistry."

Learn the material on your own and don't take this chance.

Please stop asking for illegal material.

Moderators, please close this thread.

This forum is for discussing topics related to the NDBEs: from administration, format, scores, as well as seeking help for topics - just like the DAT forum. There is nothing illicit about seeking help from others and this is why this forum as created. What is discouraged is the posting of remembered questions from the actual exam.

The thread was closed not because questions were being posted - there are plenty of sources out there that offer sample questions, for example from the ADA to Kaplan for student use - but rather that it became clear that certain questions from the actual NDBE question bank were being published within that thread. Oblivously such questions are a benefit, albeit an illegal one. SDN strives to not facilitate cheating, both from an ethical and legal standpoint, and it is for this reason that we remove threads that are questionable or have wrong intentions.

This thread is making a request of the moderators for clarification of action that has been taken and not directly solliciting illegal materials - there is a difference between the two subjects. In the interest of dialogue on what is/is not appropriate on SDN I see no reason to close this thread at this time.

Ladies & gentlemen, we have a winner.

Threads asking about unreleased & otherwise illegal NBDE materials have been on a sharp rise lately. We try not to punish SDN users for honest mistakes, but if this trend doesn't reverse on its own, the SDN volunteer staff will be forced to start taking disciplinary action against people who advertise or solicit these materials. The terms of service agreement clearly prohibits publishing copyrighted or otherwise protected intellectual property, and everyone agreed to abide by the TOS during the account creation process. Please consider this fair warning that future violations may be dealt with much more strictly than has been the custom recently.

When a student states that they have copied important threads onto their computer and may be able to provide access, this is facilitating CHEATING. No matter how you sugar coat it, this is a violation of this website and a violation of the conduct expected through the ADA.

Poor reflection on this website that this activity is facilitated here. I know that you have tried to reduce the activity (and it is a tough job), but obviously it is still happening.

It sounds very reasonable. But I still have two doubts, could you please clear that for me:
1. How do you judge the questions posted are ligal or illigal? in other words, how do you know the questions were from the real tests or not? Even people claim the questions posted are from the past test paper, but I think you need a proof for that. (a lot of people fool around here though.)
2. Even the post is what you think illegal, you can delete the individual post and give the warning to the poster, but why do you delete the whole thread??? (sorry I don't know if there is a technical issue here which the individual post can not be deleted in the thread...) but if not, I have to say, you misuse your power for moderator because not all posts in the thread were illegal.
For a moderator, I don't know how often you check this forum, but the thread had been there for almost several months...you even didn't know that? As I said, please check the other threads about questions discussion, I bet they might also be from "illegal source", why don't you delete them? Do you have double standard?
I understand that being a moderator is not easy! we totally agree the rules...To make this forum better, we really need to do more and work together, but not just simply delete the threads. (That's also unfair if you delete the ligal discussion post in the thread....so my suggestion is delete the single post not the whole thread...)
Thanks!!

We do have methods of ascertaining which items are illegal and which aren't with a good degree of confidence. Unfortunately, we can't post them all or else people will simply circumvent them. When we find items that we suspect are posted inappropriately, we act in order to protect SDN from liability.

The organizations responsible for these tests & study materials make a good deal of money from them, and take a very dim view toward people distributing them for free. We're only acting to protect SDN so it can continue to thrive for everyone's benefit.

There are certain technical limitations associated with deleting posts. Single posts can be deleted, but any post which is the first in a thread automatically deletes the entire thread. I can look into this and see whether the legitimate discussion items might be restored.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I hope this makes some sense to you, and sheds a little light on the methods & limitations we work with in trying to keep this forum (and SDN as a whole) running smoothly for everyone. 🙂
