Hey everyone!

So I was wondering how many of you actually submitted in september, and if you've heard anything yet or if you're application has been mailed out to the schools?

I think it would be great if we could all update our application dates/status in this thread 🙂.
 
Mine finally got mailed today although Midwestern and ASDOH emailed me last week asking for supplementals. UW also emailed me last week saying they've received my application. I've been in touch with UoP and they are saying that their applications are taking 6-8 weeks to move through the system at this point. Still waiting to hear from NYU, Tufts, Western, OHSU (they did cash my check), UNLV and Colorado.

I turned in my application on 9/9/09 and it has not been mailed out yet... the gpa averages have not been calculated either... Its going to be two weeks since i turned it in on wednesday. When did you turn in your application?
 
I turned mine in on the 14th, so I'm stilling waiting for the GPAs to be calculated 😡

Hey David... how did the other schools ask you for supplementals before the application was mailed out? Did you mail in the supplemental fees before AADSAS had mailed your application to the schools?
 
I submitted my application in September, as well. I wasn't sure if I was going to apply for this cycle and decided to go ahead and try last minute. My application was slowed down by about 3 weeks, however, because one school I attended delayed sending my transcript for 3 weeks! To those of you who have already had your application sent to your desired dental schools, how long did it take for your application to be sent after ADEA received all of your transcripts? Mine were all received by 9/17 and I'm still waiting on the GPAs to be figured.
 
i filed my AADSAS in July (paid the fee and such), but designated my schools on September 5th. My committee interview was uploaded to my AADSAS ON September 17, so schoosl are still waiting for that.

Schools that i've applied to that have received my App and confirmed:

BU
Harvard
UoP
UNLV

From what I have gathered with letters and AADSAS. It takes them 2 mondays from when your app is submitted to when it gets be mailed. My last letter was submitted Sept 10th and got mailed out today (the 21st).

so if my Committee letter was upload to AADSAS on 9-17, you're saying it won't get sent out until 10-5?

Yeah. I know it really sucks but under your 'evaluations' you will get a mailing date in there a week before it actually mails out.
 
Great thread!! I was wondering when someone was going to make a thread like this. Well, I totally submitted my application the sept 18th.😱 But everything including my transcripts and loe were in by early july. I was not going to apply this cycle but I decided to apply last minute because I figured what the heck it won't hurt to at least try....So far AADSAS hasn't mailed my app out yet.

are we allowed to do the reverse? once we have our app filled in, can we send it, and then decide afterwards who our LOE writers will be?

I am not totally sure. You should call AADSAS and check. It might work but it also might take longer because they may have to wait on your LOE's.....😕 I say call them up!🙂

Yeah you can send in your application first and then decide on the LOE writers b/c I know I added one of mine after I submitted my application and they've already received it.

I think today was one of the mailing dates, so who knows when the next one will be 🙁.

Yeah, I wrote my DAT September 3rd, and I already got an interview to Nova!!!

But all the other schools I applied for are still waiting for additional information.

When was your AADSAS application mailed?
 
I think it was mailed out in August, but my supplemental fees were later and I just sent out some secondarys.
 
My app was finally sent off from AADSAS on Sept. 21st (although some responded to the electronic copy a week prior). I received Midwestern's and ASDOH's secondary a week prior and just received (at 6am this morning) an interview invite for Midwestern.

Gosh this moves fast.

:O Wow congratz! What are your DAT scores and GPA?
 
Offhand my DAT scores were: 22 bio, 23 rc, 22 gc, 17 oc, 17 qr, 25 pat...

My gpa is a 3.36 from a 4 year and a 4.0 for all of my pre-reqs (which are coming from a comm college). The 17 in oc was due to not having taken the classes yet. Weird timeline when you're a non-traditional student with an econ degree.

My father's a dentist too. I have a feeling that helps but it's all hearsay. Hopefully this is just the first interview 🙂 made my day though.

I called the AADSAS to ask when my application will be mailed out and the person I spoke to told me that it takes four to six weeks to process the application and then they're going to verify the GPA and then they're going to send my application... what does this mean??? AADSAS already received my transcripts... why does it take four to six weeks just to "process" the application before verifying the grades???? Can anyone explain this for me? And does it really take that long to mail out the application?

Mine took less than two weeks for GPA calculation and a day or two after they calculate your GPA, they write it on the application when it will be mailed out. When did you submit?

They always tell you that over the phone. It usually should take about a day or two for your GPA to be verified after you submit and two Mondays from then for it to be mailed out to the schools. It might take less time now since there aren't as many applicants applying. You will get a date on your aadsas soon!

Well I submitted my app sept 19 and haven't received a gpa calculation yet.😡 But it says the school received the payment. I also have all my transcripts and LOE completed.😕
 
I turned in my application on 9/9/09 and it says on the aadsas that is supposed to be mailed out tomorrow the 25th! im still missing two letter of reference but it seems they are mailing it anyway... also my gpa was calculated two days ago!!! good luck to all!!!
 
After you esumbit and pay, is there anything else that we have to do? Should we send out the payment now - the secondary payments to the schools that requested them? I e-submitted on 09/02 and my GPA still has not been calculated!!!!

there is nothing you can do until they contact you via email or update your adsas. I submitted on 9/19 and they told me today i forgot to a course to the coursework section so I am assuming they were calculating my gpa lol...maybe.

Just called them and they say it takes twooooooooo weeeeeeks from GPA calc to mail the app. WTH. WHY?

Q: does any one know if designated schools have access to app before the app being mailed?
 
The worst part of waiting is not me waitin, it's my parents killing me for applying late and the fact that I am applying to dental school by itself is not approved by the department of homeland security (parents).

I believe some schools do have access to the application electronically. But call the schools to check for sure.

I was a premed since I started talking, so I did not know anything better. So I took my MCAT last year (32R) and was supposed to apply to med school last year and everything was ready until I found out that Earth orbits the Sun and not other way around 😱 Started shadowing my dentist and an orthodontist to make sure this is what I wanted to do before I announce my decision and be sentence to guillutine.
They are mostly upset thinking that I am wasting my time possibly for two years by not falling through the original plan (at least this is what they say, but it could be more to it, specially when the whole US and Europe knew that I was going to be a physician :meanie:)
My father was not really talking to me for a month when I announced what I wanted to do, but at least I did not face guillutine.
 
oh and I forgot to add how much I feel blessed to know now that later. I have a friend who went to an expensive NY university school of medicine and finished two years of residency in Chicago and switched to dental school last year...... Imagine the amount of debt he accomolates by the time he is done....
I am glad it is not me...

It is not like you decided to become a dancer after being a premed. No offense to dancers out there by the way. Tell your dad that he should be proud of you wanting to become a dentist, because we all agree that dentists>physicians:meanie: And it is never too late to follow your dream😎

you know, professional ballroom dance instructors charge up to $200 / hour, they work great hours, there's no malpractice insurance, so after taxes you are taking home a s** load of money. my old coach charged $95/hour, which is CHEAP for amateur lessons.

wow i can't believe your friend went through all of that just to find out he wanted to do dentistry. that stinks

well he is proud of me. Always been, and I am sure once I get in, he gets used to the idea and let go. But for now he does not fail to REMIND me once in a while what a great mistake I am making! :laugh:
I guess he is dissapointed more because he did not see this coming :meanie: Surprise.

See I just learned something else, So If I did not make it to dental school, I can be a dancer and I actually like the idea.

I hope my Mom and pop aren't scanning SDN at the moment :ninja:
 
How long does it take for schools to respond / email us after our application has been mailed out by AADSAS?

got application receipt from Nova, filled out their secondary application, paid the fee 09/25

was asked to complete secondary application for UCSF 09/25

waiting from other schools
 
Does anyone know how long it takes for AADSAS to mail out the LOEs, schools have my application and scores and the only thing missing is letters. Also, do schools look at the online version of letters that AADSAS makes available to them?

from an email that i directly received from AADSAS after incessant emails:

"Once we receive a letter of evaluation after we have mailed your application it generally takes 2 weeks for it to be mailed to all of your designated schools. We will mail a hardcopy of the letter and the schools will have electronic access to the letter."
 
I submitted it in early September.
Status:
UCLA: secondary application.
UCSF: secondary application.
UW: email stating application received but still waiting for secondary.
USC: I guess there is no secondary application for that school.
 
AADSAS submitted 9/19 Gpa verified 9/30. Will be mailed in two weeks so around 10/16.....
 
Once the application has been mailed out by AADSAS, how long does it take for schools to start looking at it or email us that they've recieved it?
