Hello everyone,
I graduated with biology degree with really BAD grades. I did my year and half of my own postbac by repeating some classes mixed with upper div. classes. I was able to maintain 3.9 throughout the year and half. However, I am still only at 2.82cGPA and 2.77 bcpm gpa. I understand that many smp's require 3.0 gpa for admission. But I think another year of A's in my classes will get close to 3.0 but not quite.(I have too many units 🙁 ) My MCAT score is 35R. Are SMP programs strict about minimum GPA of 3.0? Would programs not consider me at all because of my GPA being below 3.0 when I apply?

Some are not strict about it. With your mcat, they might be willing to take you. It is best to contact each program you are interested in and see what they say. It might help out your application for smps if you establish a relationship with them and show great interest in their program.

I think if you apply to a bunch, you will get in somewhere. I would do that then spend another year of postbacs if it is possible. Good luck~

Perhaps you can e-mail the program directors individually and ask them about this. With you MCAT score, I believe some of them will be willing to consider your application on a case by case basis.

some are not strict about it, it's true, (BU is one of them) but it'll hurt you down the line when you actually apply to med schools
