Hi everyone

I am currently in the process of filling out the secondaries for both of these schools and would like some feedback on what is unique and special about these school. I need to write their secondary that says "why do you want to attend here" essay, and I am having a hard time knowing what to write.

Thank you and any help will be appreciated.

Go to their websites and figure out as much as you can. When I applied I looked at the class profile, mission statement, and location to spin it for me. That's really all you need.

I have intimate experience with both. But you're going to have to be more specific, it's up to the individual as to why a school is unique.

I think this belongs in Pre-DO though

For example, what kind of volunteer opportunities does the school provide? and also, how are the interdisciplinary education different than other Do schools that offer this?

Also, what do they do to make the student body more friendly and helpful and have a community feel and not a competitive feel?

Well I can answer some of this about CCOM but not AZCOM although I would guess they have similar opportunities.

There are student run clinics that you can volunteer at as soon as first year. Also all campus organizations must do a volunteer project each year so there are plenty of them going on and if you have ideas generally the clubs are eager to set it up.

Interdisciplinary education- Well at CCOM we used to take pharm with the pharm kids and masters students but thats it.

HOWEVER CCOM is transitioning to web based classes in the near future. The last few classes have always complained about not having access to recorded lectures. Well looks like we were heard but in my opinion not having the option to go to class with your classmates is a big loss.

CCOM assigns you a big sib to ask questions to and what not. In years past you had biochem and anatomy groups that really helped you get to know some classmates pretty well. Other than that it's really not up to the school to do this, it's more a reflection of each class. In the last few years (c/o 2013 is the first to have a real facebook group) class friendliness and interaction has gone up a lot.

Like undergrad each school may have a somewhat different feel to it but really it's more about what you make it.

So when you say web based classes, do you mean just having the lecture recordings/videos available online? Or do you mean more than that. Sorry to hijack this thread, but could you elaborate on what you've heard about that if you dont mind?
Thanks

From what I heard it would be like online recorded lectures. We will have to see when they may implement this. It would be a great question to ask at your interview.

Hey thanks for all your help on these forums by the way:thumbup:

No problem, I try to just give a normal point of view because I know I really appreciated the info when I applied.
