Just found out today in orientation that they are no longer allowing you to switch to in-state residency after one year. I just thought I'd pass this info along to the new applicants.

Good luck with your VMCAS!

Is that only affecting Class of 2014 applicants? Or will 2013'ers be out of luck also?

From what I understand (I'm IS, so this is just what I heard) the 2013'ers found out in June. They were all contacted and offered the opportunity to defer for 1 year to establish residency or go ahead with the 4 years of OOS tuition. Really sucks, but we still had the usual 10-12 OOS'ers in orientation today. I do know of at least one girl that deferred for a year.

I feel really bad for the OOS'ers. They didn't find out until June, and undoubtedly turned down their other options by then.

Wow, that really kinda sucks. That takes them off the short list of schools that allow OOS->IS tuition as a student.

Makes me kinda glad they rejected me. 🙂

Hmm, that definitely moves UF down on my list, but they have some really cool research i'm interested in, so i've gotta keep them.
