The little guide on the ADA practice exam is definitely not how the actual DAT is scored. That scoring thing is just provided so students can get a rough estimate of how they might perform. The actual DAT is based on a scale (see page 11 of the manual below), except AA, which is an average of five of the individual scaled scores. See this ADA user manual:

Pages 31 through 46 give the number of people who achieved each score on the different sections of the DAT in 2004. It most certainly is possible for a student to score as Streetwolf did. I got a 27 in GC as well
