I just received an email from the admissions office- they said that they interview through March and never fill the class before they are fininshed interviewing. Just thought I'd share the good news for those of us who applied and haven't been interviewed or rejected yet.

waiting for that school...
i guess they r waiting for the 1st acceptance to send deposits and see how much space are left

I think you're right- otherwise we would have been rejected by now. There are lots of rejections on predents.

Haven't heard a thing either and I was complete in late Sept. To be honest I'm surprised I haven't been rejected yet, haha.

My app has been complete since late August!

Early August here... still haven't heard anything.

Ha, you're predents profile is a joke. How do you score a 25 in Bio, 27 in G chem, 27 in O chem and end up with a 29 total science?

He got that b/c the TS score isn't an average, it's a scaled score and the biology section has more weight than either of the chem sections. So if you do really well on the bio, like Streetwolf did, you can get a very high TS score.

ts is not the avg aa is the avg
ts can be higher based on curves

most likely the people who interviewed before dec 1, will get an acceptance (majority), because most people like the school, but are drawn away from the high tuition, therefore ateending their state school. So accepting people through march seems about right.

anyone else hear that at UPENN if your patient neglects to pay the bill it's charged to your account?

i asked upperclassmen about this and they said theyve never heard of that happening

If ill get accepted ill def. go to Upenn!! `

The TS section is based off of all 100 questions as a whole, not paying attention to subject. Each specific subject has its own scaling. So while it was a certain difficulty to get a perfect score on each section individually (I believe 27 on orgo and gen chem was perfect for mine but I cannot be sure), it was much more difficult to get a perfect score on all three.

Thus you WILL get a 30 if you get all 100 questions correct. You WILL get a 29 with 1 wrong, 28 with 2 wrong, etc for a couple more points. I'm guessing I missed a bio question because the percentile wasn't 100.

If you still don't believe me, fine, I do have my score sheet at home...

Do your research pal.

Streetwolf has been caught. Look at page 56 of this file put out by the ADA on scoring the DAT. It is impossible to get a 25 in bio (he can only get a 29 or 26 or 24) and it's impossible to get a 27 in gen chem or o chem (the only closest scores possible for gen chem are a 25 or 29 and for ochem are a 30 or 28 or a 25). If you then compute the number of total questions missed (which would be 3) that would give him 97/100, which is converted to a 27, granted that he got a 25 on general chemistry, 28 organic chemistry, and 26 on biology. Here is the end all facts as to whether or not SDNers inflate their stats. So all of you can now compare SDNers and predents kids scores to this to see if they are lying. Just be honest.

No, we're not about that here. Does it really matter if someone doesn't believe you? You know how well you did, so just be content with that.

Ok I want to see it!! lol im just kidding...BTW 27 isnt perfect score beacuse I got 29 in orgo and I think that I got 1 wrong...and you have awesome scors - great job!!

Penn's an awesome school. I wish I'd gone there for undergrad. Hella party school. 😍

Anyone interested to see how TS scores are broken down on the DAT should look at my post which is 4 posts above. Sorry for being persistent, but I'm annoyed how some people post fake scores.

I dont think that he is laying - he knows how much he got....and why should he lie- would he get more acceptences if he will??

Sorry bro. There's a different scoring sheet for EACH test form. I think there's a footnote somewhere that says that too! It's like that for every test: DAT, MCAT, GRE, SAT, etc. My 27 Bio's not possible on that test form, but that's my score.

No, he wouldn't get more acceptances (obviously). BUT, it's well known that some people on SDN fudge their scores a bit, because no one knows who you are so you can make yourself feel a bit better when you have insane scores 25 or 26+ in all sections and everyone here complements you. IT'S just not feasible. I've read research articles put out by the ADA and statistics of people who received what scores, and the highest recorded DAT academic average was a 28. So no, he won't get more acceptances, but he may feel better that his scores are off the charts.

Haha- thats right I am jealous I only did well in Orgo...:-(

Ok bro, well then that may be the case, but if you looking at the scoring rubric it is not quantitatively possible to obtain a 29 TS if all your scores on the science portion are below a 29. It's as simple as that. By the way, nice score. 😉

The little guide on the ADA practice exam is definitely not how the actual DAT is scored. That scoring thing is just provided so students can get a rough estimate of how they might perform. The actual DAT is based on a scale (see page 11 of the manual below), except AA, which is an average of five of the individual scaled scores. See this ADA user manual: http://www.ada.org/prof/ed/testing/dat/dat_usermanual.pdf

Pages 31 through 46 give the number of people who achieved each score on the different sections of the DAT in 2004. It most certainly is possible for a student to score as Streetwolf did. I got a 27 in GC as well 😛

Hope this helps people who wish to know more about how the DAT is scored, etc 🙂

let em fudge. it only matters to those that are neurotic anyway. Scares the 18's and 19's a bit, too. kinda funny, actually

Page 11 does not break down specifics of questions missed on each section and how the sum total of amount missed translates to a standard score. Page 11 only really indicates that the test is scored in a logarithmic sense. It does not break it down into specifics. I have already read this article, it doesn't specify the details. Computationally, it's a tricky way of describing how individual scores and amount missed correlate to a sum score. Blah.

Guys this is not a DAT thread it a UPENN 😍 thread.

I hope we all get accepted to Upenn and then we will be able to talk as much as we want about the DAT lol

 True true. Well let's just say I have no need to be scared if that's the case. I guess I get to hang with all the cool kids in the 20 and above group. Yay.+pity+

P.S. I just wanted to clarify that for anyone who cared. You all know that when we're in dental school, our DATs will be a thing of the past. It's kinda like looking back at high school now and seeing how you were so naive and consumed within that high school realm at the time. Well, DAT analogy is similar. You lived and breathed the DAT for a while, and it was everything to you (for a good reason). Once you finished it and did well, endless opportunities were opened up for you and you will be able to sit back in the future and smile. Goodnight everyone.

I am more than willing to give you whatever proof you want, simply because (a) I don't care if I show you, and (b) you will care when I show you.

1) Every test is different and will thus yield different scores with different percentiles.

2) TS is independent of individual science section SCORES. Not to be confused with individual science section # of questions answered correctly. It absolutely depends on that.

3) A 27 on my test may have been perfect but on another test, perhaps even the next day's test, it may mean 1 or 2 wrong. The score is based on test difficulty. A hard as hell test may give a 30 for a perfect score.

4) If I got a 20 I'd put that down... I wouldn't lie about a score like this. If I was embarassed about my score I wouldn't even make it available to anyone else.

5) I believe the stats you are reading are from 2 years ago, correct? Hardly reliable.

Edit: I am also willing to take this into a PM to keep the thread on topic.

Good luck to all of you guys waiting on word from UPenn 😉

No worries. Your score is entirely plausible. There are several with that kinda scores every year. Let's all sit back and relax. We're all future collegues anyway. None of this'll matter in the years to come.... :luck:

Ahhh I have time to kill. Adult Swim isn't replaying tonight's lineup for another 10 minutes anyhow.

What are they playing on [as] nowadays? I haven't watched it since . . . Gundam Wing way back when.

Hey, no worries. It's all good, I don't need to keep this going. Whatever you got, congratulations. Adultswim eh? Futurama is on now, I miss Sealab 2021. Ok, case in point. Good luck guys and best of luck on your PENN acceptances. Peace.

Do u guys actually watch TV??

IHD- I wish I was also red....or maybe hot pink lol

No, you don't. I can't create a poll. I can't send/receive PMs. And worst of all, I can't maek psot.
