Just fyi,

-----------------------------------------------------------------
We appreciate the update; however because ADA and AADSAS combined the process and your scores are available through the AADSAS application we receive the updates via the AADSAS website.

We may receive them in the next mailing on Monday or the following Monday, but we do not hold applications pending receipt of updated DAT scores; if your scores that were submitted originally with the application meet our minimum requirement your application moves along in the process. There is a possibility that by the time your application is processed the new scores will be posted to your profile before your file goes to review. We process the applications in the order received and there were over 500 invitations with the same deadline as yours.

Hope this information helps, you can see more details at our DAT FAQ page at: http://dentistry.ucsf.edu/admissions/admiss_program1-faq.html#ad3.

Let me know if you have any further questions/concerns, thank you!

I originally selected UCSF as the first five (free) when I registered for the DAT.

now I hope UCSF doesn't review my secondary application in the mean time....:scared: (received my secondary on July 28th)

For DAT re-takers, try to submit the secondary application as late as you can!

Woah, I received my secondary on July 28 too. I just re-took my DAT two days ago and just today started really working on my secondary.....just so I know what's going on here, OP, your secondary is in already? And you're afraid that they'll read your secondary before your new DAT scores are posted (assuming your older scores are lower)?

Is there any chance that, in the event that the new DAT scores are posted after they get to your secondary, they'll go back and re-review your file with the higher scores in mind? 😕

Wait... Are they saying that they will process the application even if they don't receive the new scores and receive the supplemental?

Yes, they will process with whatever they have once the file is complete. they do NOT hold applications for DAT re-takers. meaning, once you are rejected with your first score, they will not re-look at your application. hopefully more than 500 invitations slow down the process.. my DAT will probably be uploaded next tuesday or by the end of this week. it's been sent out from the ADA today. i'm just crossing my fingers that the adcom will look at my app AFTER my second one has arrived..

namiie, it takes approximately 3-4 weeks for your DAT to be received by the schools.. and yes, my secondary is in. I had to turn it in within 21 days.

oh crap... my supplemental is due the same day I take my DATs.... they won't re-evaluate if you get rejected because of low DAT scores? That's not fair...

they're just saying they won't hold onto your application for your new score. The app is still considered complete with your old DAT score. I think they just don't want to go through the hassle of slowing down the process individually. whatever is in (once complete), it just goes straight to the adcom for review. But there are couple thousands of people who are submitting their secondary, so let's just hope they're not too fast 😛

Kinda off topic but I was just wondering if the UCSF secondary is similar to UCLA's secondary.

Didn't apply to UCLA, so not sure how the secondary looks like.

the UCLA secondary is definitely a lot longer, but it has the similar main questions. That sucks for you OP hopefully there's someway to fix it, i know both UCLA and UCSF don't answer much questions about your application during this time since there are just too many people to talk to.

I'm just hoping that they don't come across my application too fast. I remember last year, I got my UCSF rejection letter late December, so I'm guessing the reviewing process will take a while. The admission officer did say that there were over 500 invitations that went out on the same day. My mailing date is designated as next Friday, so one week won't be that bad! 🙂
