Hey guys!!!!!!!!! I would reallllllly appreciate help from those who have been accepted to TOURONY, NYCOM and PCOM.

Can you please list your GPA/MCAT that you were accepted with

I am applying for 2008 and I really need some idea and the types of candidates they accept. I know it differs with everyone but this would really help me out.

I'd also like to know what the deal is if one actually gets accepted. Is it true that we have to let them know within two weeks and put down a $2000 non refundable deposit? I'm torn between applying very early in hopes of improving myself but also between obligating myself before hearing from allopathic schools.

It is true that you have to put down a large deposit. I know for NYCOM you must put down a $1500 deposit. With NYCOM a lot depends on where you come from. Instate students can get accepted with slightly lower stats. The average MCAT is 27 and average GPA for science 3.3 and a 3.4 overall. I know for NYCOM a good GPA can make for a bad MCAT and vice versa. If you have a 23 or 24 you can gain acceptance with a 3.7-3.8 GPA. It works the opposite way as well. 30+ MCAT can be accepted with a 3.0-2.9 GPA.

So if i have about a 3.7 gpa overall and science, possibly higher in science if i get As in the summer), and I'm in-state, what MCAT would you think i need for NYCOM? I just wish they weren't so darn expensive.

It's hard to predict because everyone is different, it's not just cut and dry on numbers, a lot depends on EC's, your essay, interview. Just try to get the highest MCAT possible and dont worry about what's "good enough for NYCOM"

No. For PCOM, and it was like this for a lot of the DO schools I applied to, you pay an initial deposit when you're accepted, I think it was like $100 or $150. The big deposit comes in the spring time. Like April I think.

OP, if you look at the AACOMAS website, the rules for deposits are there somewhere. From my recall, any acceptances offered before November 15th or something, you had like, until November 15th to send in your deposit?
Maybe some schools want it sooner, though. I remember people having a while to pay their first deposits after getting acceptances in Sept & Oct...
In the big picture, all you'll lose is a little money here. But your chances of getting in are so much better by applying early - ISN'T IT WORTH IT TO YOU?

They are not rules but rather guidelines. A few schools follow them but some particularlly the touros do not.

anyone know what the situation is for NYCOM? I'd love to get an early acceptance there but I'd hold out for Stony Brook (which I understand is notoriously slow) because it's soooo much cheaper.
