For those who received an interview from or got accepted to Marquette, when did you submit your application?

I submitted mine on Oct 1st (GPA 3.8 AA 24/TS 25/PAT 25), and Marquette flat out rejected me without even giving me an interview. I called to ask why and they said I applied much too late since they start giving out interviews on September.

Anyone else in the same boat??

From their website: http://www.marquette.edu/dentistry/admissions/AppReq.shtml

'For optimum consideration, your credential file (including AADSAS application with grades and DAT scores, letters of recommendation and application fee) should be complete in our office no later than September 1.'

So does that mean they will reject everyone who apply after Sept 1st? Did anyone who applied after September receive an interview at all??

I submitted my application with the LOR completed and GPA verified June 25th. During my interview they told us that Nov. 2nd was the last day for out of state interviews. They said their pool was strong enough and only a few here and there would be handed out after that last round of interviews.

I find it interesting how many schools preach about ethics and some schools are willing to take your $ and reject you without serious consideration. If its too late to apply do not take our money!

my point exactly!

Marquette's listed deadline on AADSAS was 1/1/2013. I feel that they should change that date to 9/1 to stop people from being misled and wasting money.

..sounds different from what they told me.
they told me they don't do interviews on a rolling basis; instead, they do it on a block for 9 days ONLY.

What comment are you referencing?

Also, I agree with you guys. If no applications will be considered after a certain date, the date with AADSAS should be updated. I am assuming they keep the late date on AADSAS just in case there is an exception they want to make, but that doesn't seem fair to those of you who applied after 9/1 and before they close their application on AADSAS. At the same time, I am surprised you didn't read through the website of the school before applying. Fault goes both ways IMO.

I am referencing kmcw's comment about the interviews.
I did check their website in the summer, but when I read it, I don't remember seeing that bold letter of Sept 1 being the date for optimal consideration. Is it just bad memory or did I miss it completely? I don't know. Once I started the application process, I was just looking at the deadline listed on AADSAS website. 🙁

I did read it. But saying it's best to apply before 9/1 and "if you are an extraordinary applicant we might make a once in a decade exception and possibly consider you for an interview"

Or atleast only charge people once they are being seriously considered. Or tell people that they need not appy if they have a Dat/gpa less than a ____
