Hi,

I'm getting my feet wet with teaching in the masters program at my school, currently teaching my 2nd class (Intro to CBT). I've done a lot of scouring of the web for examples of classroom exercises, and have found some good ones. I've come up with some on my own, but have to admit I'm not all that creative with this stuff. Do you have any resources that you've found to be helpful for ideas for in-class work? I've come across a few books, but wanted to get some opinions first as to what others like. Any suggestions are appreciated.

There was a book referenced in the psychiatry forum (I think in their stickie for suggested books) that was a very introductory book to CBT, which may be worth taking a look at. For me the Beck CBT text is the primary text people should get familiar with in the beginning.

Thanks T4C. I have no shortage of books on CBT theory and practice, so I'm good to go there. I'm looking for more "hands on" examples to use in class. I do role-plays and such. I feel that with a therapy theory class you need more engaging activities than straight lecture to reinforce the material. Hope that clarifies.

I'm a big fan of role playing, because if done correctly, it can be quite effective and bring the work to life. Maybe have people develop a character to role play, and have others work with. We would do this in classes and it worked out well, and proved quite challenging at times.
