I've been following SDN pretty closely while preparing for Step 1, and of course noticed that a lot of people seem to think that the UWorld practice exams seem to overpredict the score of those who receive a 265+. I was hoping some people who have scored as such might be able to chime in on what percent they had correct on these exams vs. their Step 1 exam scores so that those of us who use these for predictive purposes might have a better idea of what our scores on these exams may mean.

Hopefully we can get some quality data compiled here so test-takers in the future who score a 265+ on UWorld exams might be able to compare their % correct with past examinees so these exams have more predictive value for us.

Thanks.

UWSA 1 262 3 weeks out from the real exam

UWSA 2 265 2 weeks out from the real exam

NBME 7 246 4 days out from the real exam

Real USMLE score was 261

My experience was similar to Johnnie's. I did the two UWSA's 2 and 1 week from the exam respectively, and got 265+ on each of them. I took the NBME form 12 in between them and got a 257. The UWSA's ended up under-predicting by five points, but I still get the feeling that they habitually over-predict for most people.

Yeah, that's been my impression so far; I was hoping to maybe hear from some people regarding what % they had correct if they had scored 265+, as I feel like otherwise the predictive value is lacking.

From the very few people I've seen post % correct after scoring over 265+ on UWSA, 84-85% seems like ~250ish, while 90%+ seems maybe 260+. Would be good to get some more experiences compiled so that maybe a correlation can be established, but I realize most people already took exams and don't have access to their UWorld exams any longer.

Sorry, I don't recall the % correct on my UWSA's, although I do remember having checked it after getting those scores on both events.

I recall my uwsa 1 being 78 or 79% and that predicted a 257 and I got a 258 on the real thing.

UWSA1 and 2 were both 265/800

I ended up with a 251 on the real thing, which was closest to my NBME 7 score (250). I'm still very, very happy with my score but it obviously overpredicted by quite a lot.

Just wanted to show that there's an obvious selection bias in this thread; I'm sure others can mirror this as well.

1 week out- Uworld test #2-265
Real thing i got a 264

I think if you take those assessments "realistically", as in go straight through, take very limited breaks between sections, etc, they are good predictors.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I guess one of the things I was trying to accomplish with this thread was to get some idea of how people's board scores compared with what percent that they had correct if they had scored over 265 on the UWSA exams (since anything over 84% correct is a 265).

Took the test today. I had a 265+ on both UWSA exams (90% correct on one, 91% correct on the other). Will report back when I get my score so that others in the future like myself who run out of time to do NBME exams may get some predictive value out of the % correct on their 265+ scores on UWSAs.
