Congratulations on everyone that has been accepted into the class of 2008.
I was wondering if you did not mind posting what you think helped you get in. For instance, scores, background, did you get a letter of recommendation from a DO, etc. How long was the wait before you sent your secondary application and getting the interview and from the interview to acceptance?

Does anyone know if one can be accepted even though it is late in the game?

I just sent my secondary application(yesterday) and I know my recommenders did this week. It is awful to be so late in the game but I did not make my decision to apply in December and it took AACOMAS six weeks to send out my info. I had to beg UNECOM to let me have access to the secondary application since AACOMAS was taking too long. UNECOM is the only school I have applied to...but with the lateness I am a little worried...i actually have a unique experience where i actually went to allopathic school and then had a bad car accident and have been out for 4 years. When I came up to Maine(from Massachusetts), I recovered quicker under osteoapthic care. Instead of finishing out the allopathic tract, I decided I much rather perfer training in osteopathy and am ok with restarting as a first year (since I am sure I forgot everything I learned in allopathic medical school).
Anyway, thanks for reading, I am so nervous about this since I would really like to start school this summer. But from previous experience with allopathic school, it is so much better when everythting is done months before the deadlines.

Any advice, ideas, info or (prayers)🙂 would be helpful.

I'll be going to UNECOM this fall. You may still have a slim chance with your background and first -hand experience with osteopathic care. But, it's getting very, very late in the game to be applying. I assume that if you got into an allopathic school then your numbers must be allright.

You may be better off sitting out this cycle and getting everything in very early this coming cycle. If you have your stuff in early, then you can get an early interview & hopefully an acceptance. I had my stuff in as soon as it was possible, and had an acceptance before the end of September.

Good luck and feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.

Good luck. It is never too late to try to get in. I applaud you for your perseverence and your decision to do what is best for you even if it requires a small setback. I am also attending UNECOM this upcoming year and am very excited. Good luck on yoru interview and I hope to see you in July.
I think what helped me get in was several things. I had decent scores, shadowing expereince with several DO's New England Residency and very good reccomendations. I also took a year off out of undergrad to practice as a volunteer EMT.
