Mass of rod= 0.5kg
Counterweight mass=0.01kg
When the pan is empty, the rod is balanced at x=1cm.
Based on the picture in figure 1 (attached), when calculating the mass of the pan, the fulcrum exerts:
The answer is: a force on the rod but no torque.
I'm confused why there is no torque because doesn't the rod rotate around the fulcrum causing torque around this pivot point?
