Is the amount of core classes required at Fordham University (NY) absurd compared to other colleges? Realistic for a pre-med?

(from wikipedia)
All undergraduate colleges at Fordham share a Core Curriculum that consists of 17–21 courses (depending on foreign language proficiency) drawn from nine disciplines and/or families of disciplines intended to provide a sound liberal arts education. In outline, the core includes:

its not absurd at all.

most liberal-artsy schools will have General Education Requirements which will probably seem like a waste of time.

My school, for example, requires about 20 courses as well.

Yup mine too. Yours doesn't even seem too bad OP

Eh, to me this seems like an insane amount of classes. I attend a small private LAC and we have required units as well, but we don't have nearly as many as this college requires or the same specificity, and most of them could be fulfilled with just one major anyway.

looks very reasonable. if it for some reason doesn't mesh with your expectations, there are many other colleges.
