Foreign MD Chances at a Higher Tier Peds Program

Still a 2nd termer at SGU, and wondering as a foreign MD what would be the "recipe" to getting into a good, competitive peds program. If I am interested in the some of the top tiers, what would you suggest? Please try to be specific with the numbers and summer activities or whatever else you may come up with. Thanks!

Well, you'll probably need to start with getting a VERY high USMLE Step 1 score. I'd aim for above 260.
Places like UCLA, CHOP, and Boston Children's can be incredibly competitive from what I've heard. However, I have heard of IMGs ending up at some excellent top tier programs.
One thing to take into consideration is that, at carribean med schools, the really exceptional students rarely apply to peds. They instead try for Rads or Orthopedics, according to a friend who graduated last year.
You should make sure to apply to a range of programs, however, no matter how good your numbers are.
